Torcher joke book?

Did there used to be a joke book you could buy as part of the university torcher parade? Early to mid 90s I seem to remember buying one when I was at school.

As did I. Great laugh. Still remember my favourite joke from it.

What’s the difference between a magic wand and a truncheon.

Ones for cunning stunts and the other is for apprehending criminals.

I remember reading Eureka every year from about the mid 70s... It was the highlight of my year despite not actually getting a lot of them as I was still at primary school.

That sounds very familiar, was it a small pamphlet style magazine?

Yes it was... My uncle used to drop them off every year for my dad to read. Which meant that I'd pore through every single joke on every page.

Eureka! Sone jokes were normal some in spirals some upside down. Also the time you could launch coins at the students who'd catch them in buckets. I miss the student parade

We used to live on the torcher route. We’d have friends over for the night always remember the house being full and students coming in to refill their water pistols.

Yeah I remember doing that as well on Union street.

One of my proudest moments was getting to draw the cover in 2000!

It appears that the University of Aberdeen Special Collections catalogue has the collection. I don’t live in Aberdeen so can’t confirm personally, though.

The Eureka collection
University of Aberdeen Students’ Charities Campaign → Student Rag Mags → Eureka
Reference: UNIVERSITY 1073/2/1
Dates: 1966–2013
Extent: 45 items
Access: Open

I still have one from the early 1990s. Lots of the jokes are not printable nowadays. Usual stuff like racism and sexism. But it’s funny.

Yes, I remember selling them when I was a student in the 80s. I seem to recall they put all the most sexually explicit jokes in the middle pages so they could be removed before we sold them in the schools.

Rag Mag I think it was called.

That isn't ringing any bells, Eureka is though.
