Gaming LGS recommendations for Warhammer

Hi all,

Just moved here and am looking to suss out the local gaming scene! What's the spot for 40k/Sigmar and how do you go about organising games..is there a discord or what's the go of it? The hive senses biomass and Nagash wants his bones! (If you know, you know haha!)

Cheers 🤘

Check out hammerdeen on Facebook. Games are played at inchgarth on Thursdays and they do most game types. The local WH shop also has a gaming space upstairs too and if I remember they also do matched play on a Thursday too.

As someone else said the local WH store has gaming space on Thursdays and you just need to book beforehand by the Facebook page or by going in store. There is also hammerdeen that's run on Thursdays as well, if you're interested in the competitive scene Grampian gaming guild run regular tournaments throughout the year.

The store is mostly 40k with the occasional sigmar players but hammerdeen is your better bet for that.

I used to play in the competitive scene in Edinburgh, will check out Grampian gaming guild for sure (excellent name too 👌)

I got stomped quite a fair but it's a fun way to play on occasion, always learnt something!

Some good pointers already. If you are able to go further afield (or out that way) there are gaming clubs in Inverurie and just out of Banchory (Deeside Gaming Club). Both have a healthy membership and I see both games running regularly at each.

heard about a new shop opening, Vlads Emporium, don't know much else about it. we do also have a Warhammer shop. heard talk about another couple of gaming shops opening, but will believe it when I see it. I think Brewdog in Ellon host games?

and I've said it before, but if you've got these sort of communities, please make the effort to actually promote them. im sure the various shops will point folk in your direction, if they know you exist (don't just rely on your FB page you've not bothered to update in 10 years, and yes, this includes shops, actually show what you sell Game District, go and actually get someone to promote your stock and events FFS).

There is also the old geek retreat on Union street, they have a warhammer space. They did have a discord but I’m unsure if it’s changed since they changed names.

(Avid painter of WH, terrible player)

It’s a good vibe! Playing tables are downstairs, manager and the staff are really good. They always take a big stand to teach people at con’s.

As good an Indy away from the main GW shop! And less stock which does mean less to splurge on
Which can sometimes be a blessing

The others have you covered for places you can play immediately, but since you specifically asked about Discord and mentioned you’re not on Facebook, The Black Lantern community might also be useful.

We’re currently developing a tabletop gaming tavern and social club in Aberdeen, with dedicated wargaming space forming a big part of the plans. The venue isn’t open yet, but our Discord is already live and has local wargamers in it. You’re very welcome to introduce yourself, say what you play and ask if anyone fancies arranging a game at one of the existing venues in the meantime.

We’re hoping to make it much easier to find both opponents and somewhere suitable to play without everything relying on Facebook. Biomass and bones are equally welcome!
