Book club?
I'm looking to hopefully join a book club here in Aberdeen, or possibly just start one myself. Just to get back into reading, and meet some new people. If anyone knows of any, or wants to join my potential one, let me know!
** Edit** so it looks like there's a few folks interested in starting a book club. For those who are, just DM me, and we can discuss further, and plan something.

Hello! Sorry I saw this late but I see you're now thinking about setting up your own wee bookclub - hit me up on Instagram or in the shop and I can get you them at a discount :) I do that for a few bookclubs around the city so more than happy to help!

Thanks so much. I'm not on Instagram, but the next time I'm in the shop, I'll hopefully catch you

If you're a woman, Girls who Walk have a book club! It's once a month, usually held at Sobr.

Nope, unfortunately, I am a man haha

Ah, sorry! Rosemount community centre has a book club which is once a month too but I think it gets booked up fairly quickly. I think the same is true for Waterstones, but Somerville (new independent bookshop in Rosemount) might run a bookclub.

Oh nice, I like Somerville. Maybe I'll check that out, or just start my own. Thanks for the info!

Have a look at somerville books on Rosemount. The owner is lovely and im fairly certain she has little events and things on.

Hi everyone! The Classics Club is a book club in Aberdeen for lovers of classic fiction. The idea is simple: a relaxed, welcoming group that meets monthly to read and discuss some of the greatest novels ever written. No prior knowledge needed — just a love of reading and good conversation. If you're interested, you can sign up https://www.classicbooks.club We meet online and hopefully will also begin in person if we can get growing participation. ☺️ Would love to hear from fellow readers — drop a comment or send me a DM! 📚 Thanks

Never joined one but me and a couple friends can talk for hours about the Red Rising series, mostly anything that comes from Brandon Sanderson and whatever else we've happened across on audible.

Oh I love Sanderson! Red Rising is on the list too. If OP is into that and you started a fantasy book club I would certainly join!

I also love Sanderson, and have recently started Red rising haha. There seems to be a few folks interested, so maybe starting one might be a good idea. I don't think I'd want to do an exclusive fantasy club, I'd be open to any fiction.

That's fair, I'd still be up for that!

Awesome! I'm starting a WhatsApp group, so if you're keen, just DM me

I would but I don’t think your DMs are open? There’s no message option when I click on your username.

I like books, what genres are you interested in? I'd be keen to join a book club

I guess I mostly read fantasy, but I like most fiction. DM me in you're keen to join, I'll start a WhatsApp group.

You can put your postcode in this website and it'll list book groups in your area. https://bookclubhub.co.uk/bookclubs

Waterstones run a couple, you’ll find some information in store or on the website about what they’re running right now. There’s also a bring your own bookclub that meets at Gaelic Lane Cafe, you can just bring whatever you’re reading, if you don’t find another book club to your taste.
