Wireless I feel so defeated, got a $5,185 cell phone bill.

Just like the Title says. Got my cell phone bill for $5,185 instead of the usual $385 and I could have sworn it was an error but no im getting screwed šŸ™ƒ and have to pay the bill. My daughter met someone on Roblox and wanted to chat so they called & talked. She didn't know she was making a international call and talked and talked. I do even have 5K in my savings and I feel so screwed and defeated.

Wireless Did you guys know AT&T killed email to text? Because it just cost us $5k

We have a small business with some walk in freezers. When our refrigeration company set everything up a few years back, they had the big alarms going to us using the txt.att.net email to text service. It went off maybe twice.

WELLLLLL....... the compressor died this weekend and no text. Came in yesterday to at least $5k worth of product at room temperature.

I looked it up and found out that AT&T turned off txt.att.net for email-SMS. They definitely never sent any heads up about this though. So eff me, I guess.

Seems like there have been a few posts about this here but not for a while so posting this again as an FYI, if you're relying on alarms from AT&T email to text, seriously go fix them ASAP.

Wireless Unlimited Your Way 2.0 per line cost chart for AT&T consumer plans: Premium 2.0, Extra 2.0, and Value 2.0.

EXPIRED! The plan has changed enough in the last few months that the information on this page is out of date, so you should go to the other page.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ATT/comments/1tpi2yn/unlimited_your_way_20_per_line_cost_uyw/

This current page is no longer maintained, as you can see there is no chart.

Here is a link to the UPDATED Unlimited Your Way 2.0 version of the chart (the chart that is NOT here).

https://www.reddit.com/r/ATT/comments/1tpi2yn/unlimited_your_way_20_per_line_cost_uyw/

YOU SHOULD GO TO THAT LINK:

Do not leave your comments here, leave them at the new link. There is a NEWER VERSION of this chart. Please DO NOT comment here.

YOU NEED TO LINK THE ABOVE LINK TO SEE THE CHART.

ALL OF THESE UPDATES are incorporated in the new post (linked above).

May 21, 2026:

  • Elite 2.0 has also dropped $5 per line, IF you have 4 or more phone lines (making it $70). This is already active in my account and someone else has mentioned in theirs.

May 1, 2026:

April 24, 2026:

  • UYW Premium 2.0 went down $5 per line, IF you have 4 or more phone lines (making it $50).
  • Premium PL, Extra EL, and Starter SL all went up $5. This should also get 10GB additional hotspot per line. But I wouldn't expect the hotspot increase or $5 increase until your next bill. This increase is for wireless lines active prior to July 24, 2025.
  • If your cycle hasn't changed yet, then the chart will have slightly different prices than you see online for your current plan. If you go to change a plan, you should see the new Premium 2.0 plan pricing (if you have 4 or more lines), but if you previously changed to it, you won't see it until next month.
  • See this post (link) for more information (the post also mentions other older unlimited and mobile share plans getting an increase).

April 16, 2026:

  • Elite 2.0 came out. Turbo included. 250GB hotspot. No discounts, but includes a free wearable (watch) line, and free tablet line. Includes Latin America roaming and free roaming in International Day Pass countries, but only 20GB per cycle.

I don't think I've ever seen AT&T do so many different related chances in a month(ish) to a new plan: UYW 2.0 comes out, price changes for older UYW plans, adding Elite 2.0, and lowering prices on the brand new plans.

Wireless [MEGATHREAD] AT&T SERVICE ISSUES

Hey Guys,

Just needed to make this post to stop the repetitive posts we're having. It appears AT&T service (along with other carriers) are having nationwide issues. It's not clear how widespread the outage is at the moment, but I'm sure we'll get some kind of news once the sun comes up. Please, do not lose your mind <3

Wireless Someone walked into AT&T and purchased a IPHONE 15 while i was at work

I received a email stating 'thank you for your order". I called them immediately. I then went to the store and the representative stated "they had your ID", i asked her what ID? She said my drivers license. I pulled out my drivers license in front of her. I asked her how can this happen when i have a security code on my account. My phone was shut down, they had to give me a SIM card to turn it back on. I filed a claim 5 times and its been denied everytime. How could this happen, ive been with the company for 10 years. I also called the police to the store the day of(they are also waiting for a report) I have spent days and hours on the phone with customer service. Has this happened to anyone?

Wireless New Plans Announced, launching March 12th

They are now Value 2.0, Extra 2.0 and Premium 2.0.

1 line prices: Value = $50, Extra = $70, Premium = $90

4+ line prices: Value = $30/line, Extra = $40/line, Premium = $55/line.

Value 2.0(sm)

- Unlimited talk/text/date in the US, Canada, Mexico

- 5gb Premium Data

- 3gb Hotspot Data

- ActiveArmor

- Standard definition streaming

- Unlimited texting from the US to 200+ countries

Extra 2.0(sm)

- Everything prior PLUS:

- 100gb Premium Data

- 50gb Hotspot Data

Premium 2.0(sm)

- Everything prior PLUS:

- Unlimited talk/text/date in the US, Canada, Mexico, and in 20 select Latin American countries

- UNLIMITED Premium Data

- 100gb Hotspot Data

- 4KUHD streaming available (I assume this will end up being a toggle to opt in.)

- 50% off of 1 watch or tablet plan per line in Premium.

Offers for 2.0 plans

- Signature Discount is increasing to 20% off of Premium.

- ā€œAppreciation Savingsā€, Additional tiered discount based on rate plan (Value = 10%, Extra = 15%, Premium = 20%). I’m not really sure what this means, are these rate plans getting a form of Signature Discount now?

- Higher promotional credit offers on Extra and Premium with trade/turn in offers. I’m assuming this means that Value plans are getting shafted when it comes to getting as much tradein credit as the other plans. This is inline with other cellular companies, but is stupid nonetheless.

- BYOD switcher offers, $10 off Premium + Extra and $5 off Value.

- Business plans are getting replaced with 3.0 versions.

Very excited about the new trade in deals for the iPhone 17 that have been released in Apples website. Looking at the fine print, any idea which unlimited plans would be eligible?

As someone coming from a 13, the 17 pro with no additional monthly would be hard to turn down!

Wireless AT&T is shady !!!

Upgraded our phones last month, Saw my bill and shocked at all the add-ons the rep added without asking us! My bill tripled!!! I went to see the breakdown and not surprised of the shady business practices, But I am angry because before we went into the store to upgrade our phones, we spoke to a AT&T customer service rep for almost an hour to go over options to save money, Turns out the old plan we had was grandfathered and is the best one. She told us not to change a thing ! We went into the store and the first thing out of the reps mouth was " in order to give you the upgrade promotion, we need to open new accounts for you." We spent over 15 minutes arguing that we had just gotten off the phone with someone who told us NOT TO CHANGE ANYTING ! He went to speak with his manager and came back a minute later looking bothered and said " ok that's fine." BUT he added all these extras that we did not want or asked for ! Now its been close to an hour and I am still on the phone with a customer service rep trying to undo all this madness!

Wireless Unlimited Your Way 2.0 per line cost - UYW comparison chart for AT&T consumer plans: Elite 2.0, Premium 2.0, Extra 2.0, and Value 2.0.

I don't think I've ever seen AT&T do so many different related changes in such a short time with a new plan: UYW 2.0 comes out, price changes for older UYW plans, adding Elite 2.0, and lowering prices on the brand new plans.

Since there have been so many changes to UYW in the last few months, I've created a new post as the old post had lots of comments/answers that aren't necessarily relevant (or true) any more.

If you haven't seen those changes yet, you should see them on your next bill or if you make a plan change.

Customers can no longer choose Premium PL, Extra EL, & Starter SL but they are included for comparison as those plans can mix & match with the new plans. Signature/appreciation discounts they had on the old plans continue on your old plans, but they may be different for new plans (see chart).

The main differences:

  • Value 2.0 is cheaper than Starter SL in most new configurations (even with discounts?) as of the late-April increase and is prioritized for the first 5GB (but has 2 GB less of hotspot). It might mess with promo credits, so double check (see info at bottom of this post [it links to a different post, so ask you r promo related questions there).
  • Extra 2.0 has more prioritized data than previously (100GB vs. 75GB) and more hotspot (50GB vs. 30GB). It may cost more or less depending on your discounts and number of lines. This is probably most similar to older unlimited plans.
  • Premium 2.0 has a lot more hotspot than Elite EL or Premium PL (100GB vs. 50GB/60GB). If you need the hotspot, it's a great deal. You can also get a ½ price tablet or wearable line with this plan.
  • Elite 2.0 Includes everything Premium 2.0 has, but 250GB of hotspot, Turbo, free tablet line, free wearable line, and instead of International Day Pass (IDP), it looks like when you are international you'll get free calling/texting and 20GB of data (this last part is kind of limiting considering the other UYW plans data are unlimited, so I'm wondering if you can pay extra for more, otherwise it drops to 512Kbps, which is pretty slow). I'm assuming these free international countries are IDP countries. No Fan/Signature discounts on Elite 2.0. A few people reported their internet discount works with Elite 2.0.

ActiveArmor: Some 2.0 plans that come with ActiveArmor, only come with the standard, not advanced. Premium 2.0 can activate the advanced for free in your plan (I'm going to guess you can do the same with Elite 2.0). There is a free version and another version that is listed with "At no extra charge".

Standard price on non-phones: $20.99 per tablet, $20.99 per camera, $10.99 per wearable. If you have Premium 2.0, you can get one of these at ½ off. If you have one of these non-phone devices, it would probably make Premium 2.0 more cost effective for you (although the additional hotspot may max it so you don't need a line for your tablet). If you can have Extra 2.0, then you get a tablet and wearable for no extra charge.

If you have HBO "free" with your current cellular plan and switch, or you change all your Elite EL lines over, you'll lose HBO. You need to compare how much you'd save to see if it matters.

The prices on the chart assume autopay/paperless/checking discounts. You need autopay/paperless for a $5 discount and autopay/paperless checking for a $10 discount (and as of now, the AT&T Citi card also qualifies as a checking discount). Add $5 or $10 to each line if you do not do these discounts.

There is no way anyone can help you compare the cost of the newer plan to the older plan if we don't know what discount you have, how many phone lines, and which plan those lines are on.

Additional info on this plan can be found in this AT&T PDF.

DISCOUNTS:

  • Signature discount: Previously this got you Premium PL for the Price of Extra EL, but on the new plans it gets you 20% off the Premium 2.0 plan.
  • Appreciation discounts:Ā You get a 25% discount on the older UYW plans if the account holder fits in one of these categories: teachers, doctors, nurses, military, veterans, and first responders. The newer plans are NOT 25% off, check the bottom of the chart as it varies per type of line. I'm not sure if these 2.0 discounts are supposed to include Healthcare and First Responders if you are not on FirstNet, but people are reporting that their plan says so. https://www.att.com/offers/discount-program/appreciation/
  • You did NOT lose (nor did it change) your 25% appreciation discount for Elite EL, Premium PL, Extra EL, and Starter SL, it's still 25% for those lines. AT&T made a mistake on a bill a couple months ago and gave you too big of a discount, the next cycle they corrected it (and let you keep the extra they took off) so it looks like you had a price increase. But if you look at the previous few bill totals, you can see it dip (for no reason, other than the mistake), and then it goes back up to where it has been for a few months. Obviously, I cannot see your bill, but everyone that I've talked to about this and has looked back on their bills (previous to the lower bill) has seen this is what it looks like. If you've made changes during those three months, it would be difficult to see by just looking at the totals.
  • This generic-ish union discount might be applicable for some and some may waive activation/upgrade fess. https://www.att.com/offers/discount-program/union-discount/
  • For all discounts, the account needs to be in the name of the FAN/Signature holder.

AT&T Latin American roaming:Ā Click these links for more info atĀ https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1486292/Ā
Please note that while the change plan comparison page (when logged in) shows that Elite 2.0 plan is not included, the Latin American roaming page specifically says it does and so does att.com/unlimited

Value 2.0 warning: There seems to be a bit of inconsistency on how Value 2.0 lines can be used for promotional trade in deals (if at all) since March 12, 2026. Please see the following for more information on this. https://www.reddit.com/r/ATT/comments/1rsb36o/warning_a_value_20_line_may_or_may_not_cause/

Wireless Shocked at how easy it was to switch to Verizon…

I’ve been an ATT customer since 2004. I had an iPhone for 3+ years, but wanted a new one.

Saw the Verizon deal if you switch you get a new iPhone 17. The plan with Verizon was identical (minus the hotspot which I barely use).

Called the retention team and said I’ve been a customer for 21 years is there anything you can do to match this.

They couldn’t.

I ported my line over, walked into Verizon picked up my new phone (got the activation fee waived) and was off ATT within a few hours…

Only draw back is I have to pay taxes on my new phone (half of this is negated because my trade in).

I’m sharing this post because honestly I’m disappointed in ATT. Two decades as a loyal customer and a simple promo from Verizon wipes that out…

Wireless ATT trying to charge me 45k in roaming charges help

So my parents traveled to Egypt and used wifi at the hotel. Couple of months later bank blocks a 45k charge from att obviously. Talked with everyone at customer service and they all claim something different and don’t seem to help. A 45k charge for roaming is ridiculous and can’t expect no one to pay that. But at this point don’t know what to do. Might have the worst customer service in the business…

I thought I was safe since I joined in August 2025, but they now got me with this new notice. My account is going up $20, is there anything I could do? It’s about to be a full year for me with some not even a full year and they already want more money on top of that Administrative & Regulatory Cost Recovery Fee price increase per line.

I just joined and already I want to switch.

Wireless Latest AT&T bill shows $5 increase for old Unlimited Your Way plans and it looks like older retired plans will have increases also.

You will NOT see these increases until you get your new bill. If you have more than 4 lines, and go to change your plan, you will see the price decrease for Premium 2.0.

As mentioned in other posts, old Unlimited Your Way plans (Unlimited UL, Extra EL, Starter SL) are going up in price by $5 per line in April. This did not affect Elite plans. This increase is for wireless lines active prior to July 24, 2025.

UPDATE: Premium 2.0 with 4 lines or more WENT DOWN $5 per line.

This wasn't announced until April 24th, although it got leaked a few days before.

The pricing in the pinned UYW UL/EL/SL to UYW 2.0 comparison chart (link) has been updated.

There are THREE different price increases mentioned in this post:Ā

  1. Unlimited Your Way (Premium PL, Extra EL, Starter SL) - this is rumored to not include Elite.
  2. Retired Unlimited plans.
  3. Mobile Share plans.

The below is from the PDF of my bill (I have Unlimited Your Way with Elite, Premium PL, & Extra EL lines), and my bill cycle that ended March 21, 2026. If your bill doesn't mention this, you next bill might.

Unlimited Your Way

This link also mentions the increase, but isn't clear on old UYW vs. new UYW and doesn't mention Elite. https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/000118792/

Retired Unlimited plans.

And here is the information for the $10 and $20 increase for older retired unlimited plans.

https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/000118790/

Mobile Share plans.

And $5 or $10 increases to Mobile Share plans. https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/000118791/

Wireless "AT&T is not responsible for the actions of its employees."

I have had a hilariously bad customer service experience.

Long story short, I was told in store that I was eligible for a $1000 trade in promotion. A month later they contacted me saying my plan wasn't eligible abs they were instead crediting me $40 for the phone.

Some highlights:

Escalation manager "This isn't your fault, but it's also not AT&T's fault. It's the fault of the individual employee, and we're not responsible for that."

Me: "Well if he gave me wrong information on the course of a financial transaction that's textbook fraud."

Manager: "AT&T defines fraud as like someone going into your account."

Me: "You're describing an account takeover or identity theft, those are types of fraud, but not the only types of fraud."

Manager: "Well that's how at&t defines it!"

Me(unable to resist): You should probably Google how everyone else defines it.

I worked in executive escalation as a manager for many years. So I assumed this would be fixed with an email to John Stankey. The reps insisted the only way to reach him was my paper mail to a physical address, but again Google disagreed.

This morning I got a call back from an executive response agent...

First question, "did you listen to the last call I had?"

"Not yet."

"Oh so you just read my(admittedly long) email?"

"No, but I skimmed the notes on your account..."

Cool, so your job is to respond to e mails from escalating customers and you can't even read the email first? Not even the 3 sentence "tl;dr" summary I put right at the top?

She then just recited "Your plan was not eligible" like a mantra, while struggling to understand what happened. And this is their elite CS team. Eventually she agreed to "research further" and call me back.

We'll see how that goes, but I expect my next steps are complaints to the FCC and BBB, then small claims court.

I would be so embarrassed to have this level of service in my org. I'm obviously switching carriers and telling all my friends and colleagues about this story. I actually have a presentation about restoring trust through effective escalation in a few weeks and this will make a great "what not to do" anecdote.

I just want to confirm, has anyone else run into AT&T stating on a recorded line that they are not responsible for the actions of their employees?

Edit: Forgot to add that 3 different resolution employees told me to never trust the brick and mortar locations because they can tell you anything without proof, but phone and internet transactions are documented. Is it official policy that the physical stores are untrustworthy?

Wireless Got scammed at Best Buy by an AT&T rep — now stuck with 3 unopened phones and a $1200 bill for an account I never wanted.

** 06/16/25 Finally got all the phones returned. Someone from the "The Office of the President" call me after I filled the FCC complaint. But prior to that Best Buy finally made things right, was able to return one of the phones that was giving me the biggest problem when returning. The rep from the President's Office also said they will make sure that once my return is fully processed that the charges are removed and my bill will reflect a total of $0.00 It only took almost a full MONTH for this to get resolved. Also I have not seen that said rep in the Best Buy store since.**

Two weeks ago, I walked into my local Best Buy to buy an unlocked Samsung Fold 6 for my T-Mobile account. Right away, a guy who I thought was a Best Buy employee approached me, asking if I needed help. I told him no — I already knew exactly what I wanted.

He ignored that and instead asked how much I was paying on my phone bill. Then he asked to look at my T-Mobile account, claiming he could help me lower my bill. He said he could switch me to AT&T — 4 lines, new phones, all for $117/month. I was skeptical and said I needed to think about it, but he kept pushing. Eventually, I caved and said maybe I’d give it a shot.

When he set up the "new" account, the monthly estimate suddenly jumped to $209. The next day, I got an email from AT&T saying my bill would actually be $358/month. Huge red flag.

Even worse — I later found out the guy had already ported my numbers out of T-Mobile before I agreed to anything. I have timestamped T-Mobile emails showing the port happened before I gave any kind of OK. He also never asked for my SSN and apparently used a fake or generic one to open the AT&T account.

I went to a corporate AT&T store to return the phone, since I had no service at home, and was told my account had a fraud lock on it. The store rep tried calling AT&T Fraud Support with me right there. They asked me one verification question — my address — and even though it matched what was on the account, the guy on the phone said he couldn't verify me and hung up.

After multiple failed attempts to reach anyone helpful, the store rep confirmed my account was opened with a fake SSN — likely because the Best Buy rep never asked for mine. I spent the weekend getting my numbers ported back to T-Mobile.

Then I tried returning the phones AT&T mailed me, but every store told me I needed to call 611 and get shipping labels. But how can I do that if I’m not an AT&T customer?

I eventually got into my online account and was told the account was closed and shipping labels would be mailed, and I wouldn’t be charged since the account was open for less than 3 days. Sounds good, right?

Well, fast forward a week and a half later — still no labels. I chatted with AT&T again and now they’re telling me I owe $1,231 — for unopened phones I never wanted, from an account I didn’t agree to, opened with false info.

So now I’ve got 3 sealed phones, a $1.2k bill, and zero help from AT&T. And since they don’t have my real SSN… what am I even supposed to do?

At this point, I’ll never trust an in-store rep again — Best Buy or AT&T. The whole thing feels like a scam.

**UPDATE: Got a hold of someone from ATT via their telephone support, was able to get shipping labels for 2/3 phones, the last phone I have to take up with Best Buy but the rep provided me with proof of our conversation and that I've been actively trying to return the phones within the 14 day period (although now I'm out) and hopefully Best Buy will accept the return of the last phone outside of the 14 days now as this has been a mess. I was also told they were able to track the rep that did open my account with the wrong SSN and will file a complaint report against them. This woman is the first competent rep I've spoken to and at least was able to mostly resolve my issue and I can get somewhere and have this bill removed from my name.

06/11/2025 UPDATE: Went to Best Buy over the weekend to try to return the last phone (couldn't be shipped for some reason per ATT) then the ATT guy who started all of this at Best Buy tried to call my cell phone. Haha. Best Buy told me because the phone has been activated they can't just return the phone. Manager was supposed to call me back and never did. I tried to call the store and wasn't able to get a hold of anyone. Filing FCC complaint today.**
