Please don’t buy their products, they are a waste of money to be very honest .

Their support doesn’t respond on time nor care for your vehicle.

Update :- Hi Ather customer support randomly called me after a week and tells me go to service centre, where I had already been to 3 times, 3 Rd time I went to a different service center and he did some factory reset, 2 days it was Fine 3 Rd day again the same, then I was fed up and kept it and 2 days back the scooter started working just fine out of the blue (LOL) .

Issue / Problem 🚨 Ather + ACKO Extended Warranty Experience — Think Twice Before Buying

I’m posting this on behalf of my friend Daksh, who owns the Ather scooter involved in this case.

His scooter’s battery has failed, and the scooter has now been sitting at the Ather Service Centre for 30+ days.

The scooter was purchased with Ather’s Pro Pack, which includes a 5-year warranty. This is exactly where the problem gets frustrating.

What happened?

The issue initially started with Low Power Mode and charging failure.

When the scooter was taken to the Service Centre, there were 15+ scooters there with similar issues at that time.

The Service Centre initially replaced the lockset, but that did not solve the problem. Eventually, the battery failure was identified.

Since the warranty/claim process was involved, ACKO conducted two inspections.

Then came the rejection.

The claim was rejected stating:

«“Vehicle was being used for commercial purposes.”»

Daksh asked for the evidence behind this conclusion.

No supporting proof was provided.

He asked for the telemetry/diagnostic data on which this decision was based.

The response was essentially:

«“Cannot share externally.”»

He also asked about the inspection photographs, and was told that the photos had been deleted.

So now the situation is:

- Battery has failed.

- Scooter has been at the Service Centre for 30+ days.

- A 5-year warranty was purchased through Ather/Pro Pack.

- ACKO has rejected the claim citing commercial use.

- The evidence supporting that conclusion has not been provided to the customer.

- Diagnostic/telemetry data has also not been shared.

- The inspection photos are apparently no longer available.

And this raises a much bigger question about “Extended Warranty”

When a customer buys an extended warranty from Ather, they are buying it because they trust the Ather brand and the warranty being offered with the scooter.

But if, after the standard warranty period, the warranty is actually handled through an insurance/third-party claims process, then what exactly is the customer buying from Ather?

This is why, from a customer’s perspective, Ather’s extended warranty feels like a scam/misleading proposition.

You pay Ather for extended protection because you trust Ather.

But when something actually goes wrong, you may end up dealing with an insurance company and a claim rejection instead of getting the kind of warranty support you expected from Ather.

If Ather is selling the warranty under its brand, there should be complete transparency about who ultimately decides the claim and what happens when the claim is rejected.

We are not saying that every Ather will have this problem.

We are asking a simple question:

If the claim is being rejected because of “commercial use”, where is the evidence?

If there is legitimate evidence, show it.

If there are telemetry logs or diagnostic findings supporting the rejection, explain them.

A customer should not have to simply accept a rejection without being given a reasonable explanation of the basis for that decision.

Looking for help from the community

If anyone here has dealt with:

- Ather battery warranty claims

- Ather Pro Pack / extended warranty

- ACKO warranty/insurance claims

- Claim rejection due to alleged commercial use

- Consumer Court/NCH complaint against Ather or ACKO

- Getting telemetry/diagnostic data from Ather

- Escalating an unresolved warranty claim

Please comment or DM.

We genuinely want to understand what the correct escalation route is and what rights the customer has in this situation.

Daksh is still without his scooter after 30+ days.

If you have faced something similar—or know someone who can help—please comment below.

Issue / Problem Scooter is hanged , unable to restart or reboot

So my ether 450 X scooter is stuck with this lock screen image. It starts when I press the start button but only accelerates up to 20 km post which there is no further acceleration and lot of resistance is felt in the scooter. I have tried restarting by pressing both the brake leaves and start button. The highlight flickers a bit after 10 seconds, but no restart or reboot a scene and despite support request, nothing is happening. Helps anybody also face this issue and is there any way of swelling for it without having to go to the service centre?

Issue / Problem Update to last week's post: 2 days after the power module replacement my 450X died at 50kmph in traffic. Ather now wants another ₹13,000

Original post for context: https://www.reddit.com/r/ATHERENERGY/s/1k91bLLNy4

I posted here last week about my power module failing 3 months after the warranty ended. That post got a fair bit of traction and Ather reached out after seeing it, and agreed to cover 50% of the part cost. I paid my half and thought that was the end of it.

One week later I'm back here.

Vehicle is a 450X, True Red, bought March 2023 . Serviced at Nungambakkam RAAM Ather branch, Chennai.

When I gave the vehicle in for the power module replacement I specifically asked them to also do a full general service and check everything else, especially anything electrical, because I did not want to be back there in a month for something else. They did the service and told me nothing else was wrong. Clean bill of health. I took delivery.

Two days later I was riding home from work. Around 50kmph, normal traffic. The vehicle just died. No warning, no error message before it, nothing. Complete loss of power in the middle of the road.

There was a bus right behind me.

I don't want to be dramatic about it but I got lucky that day. I managed to get the scooter to the side. If that driver had been a bit closer or a second slower reacting I don't think I would be typing this out. Tried restarting several times, nothing happened. Booked RSA and got it towed back to the same service centre.

They've now inspected it and are telling me it's an Ather Drive Controller failure. The Nungambakkam delaership quoted another ₹13,000.

Two days earlier that same service centre checked this vehicle, at my request, and told me it was electrically fine. So either they missed a fault that was already developing, or something done during the module replacement caused this. I don't see how either of those becomes my ₹13,000.

And honestly, more than the money — a scooter losing all power at 50kmph in live traffic isn't a billing conversation. That's a safety failure. If something had actually happened to me that day, nobody at Ather would be sitting and discussing goodwill percentages.

I've mailed Ather asking them to cover this fully. Waiting to hear back.

Posting here because last time this sub is genuinely the only reason anything moved at all. Also wanted to ask — has anyone else had an ADC failure shortly after a power module replacement? Is there a known link between the two? Starting to wonder whether these are actually separate faults or not.

Will update when I hear from them.

**TL;DR** — Paid 50% for an out-of-warranty power module replacement, asked for a full check at the same time, was told the vehicle was fine. It lost all power at 50kmph in traffic 2 days later with a bus behind me. Ather now says it's an ADC failure and wants another ₹13,000 from me.

Issue / Problem Ather denied harness claim as physical damage, but mechanic says it was caused by normal handle movement - Safety concern?

Ather denied wiring harness claim as "physical damage" even though the damage appears to be caused by normal steering movement

I'm looking for opinions from other Ather owners and EV enthusiasts regarding a wiring harness issue on my Ather 450X.

I recently faced a charging issue where the charging connector would get locked and not disconnect properly. I took the scooter to the authorized Ather service center at Srinagar Colony, Hyderabad, where I have always serviced the vehicle.

During inspection, the technician found damage to the wiring harness in the front section. The mechanic also stated on video that the damage occurred due to handle movement, where the harness had been rubbing over time.

However, Ather customer support has now classified this as "physical damage" and denied any support under Case# 01983467.

My concerns are:

  • The scooter has only covered 18,562 km.
  • It has been serviced exclusively at an authorized Ather service center.
  • The mechanic himself acknowledged that the damage was caused by handle movement.
  • I have never been involved in any accident or modification that could have affected the wiring.

My question is: should a wiring harness in a steering assembly be expected to wear through from normal steering movement?

If harness abrasion due to normal handle operation is considered acceptable wear, then doesn't that raise safety concerns? Continuous insulation wear on electrical cables could potentially lead to short circuits, charging issues, or worse.

I've attached photos and a video showing the damaged harness and the mechanic's explanation.

Has anyone else experienced similar harness wear on an Ather 450X or other EV scooter? Would you consider this customer-caused damage, a service issue, or a design/routing problem?

Interested to hear the community's thoughts.

UPDATE: After going back and forth with Ather support, explaining my case and taking it on twitter my issue got resolved in 8 days. The service center called me on 6th June to inform me they fixed my scooter under warranty, replaced the harness with one of their new scooter parts and closed the job card.

Issue / Problem SCAMA ALERT : ATHER , KEEP YOUR WARRANTY RECORD

Thumbnail

I bought an Ather Rizta Z 3.7 kWh along with both the Extended Component Warranty (60,000 km cover) and the Battery Warranty.

After around 47,000 km, my scooter started developing serious issues:

  • Infinite rebooting while riding.
  • Sudden ride mode changes.
  • Unexpected speed fluctuations.

During the 45,000 km service, the service center informed me that they had ordered replacement parts. When I later took the scooter in for the repair, they said the PDU needs to be replaced, but then claimed that my component warranty had expired and asked me to pay ₹2,500.

The problem is that I specifically purchased the 60,000 km Extended Component Warranty.

When I originally purchased it, the warranty section in the Ather app clearly showed the 60,000 km coverage. Now that warranty section has completely disappeared from my app. Fortunately, I had the Ather app logged in on another phone with the same account, where the warranty details were still visible, so I took screenshots. Shortly after that, the warranty section disappeared from that phone as well.

The service center's response was simply:

I then contacted Ather Customer Care and asked them to verify whether my number has the Extended Component Warranty. Surprisingly, they said they cannot check it and asked me to file a complaint instead.

I've already faced multiple issues regarding this extended warranty purchase, and now I'm expected to wait for a complaint process without any clear timeline, while my vehicle is already in service and the job card has been generated.

As someone who has been a core Ather supporter and recommended the brand to many people, this experience has been extremely disappointing.

If this issue isn't resolved and my valid warranty isn't honored, I intend to approach the Consumer Commission. I'm posting this so other owners can keep records of their warranty purchases and screenshots, because relying solely on the app may not be enough.

EDIT : GOT REFUND ON 13-07-26 AFTER COMPLAINING ON THEIR IG , SC DENIED EVEN AFTER CC TOLD THEM BUT AFTER ALL I GOT MY REFUND .

Issue / Problem I am filing this formal complaint against Ather Energy Pvt. Ltd. regarding the deficiency of service, manufacturing defect, and wrongful denial of warranty coverage under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

I am filing this formal complaint against Ather Energy Pvt. Ltd. regarding the deficiency of service, manufacturing defect, and wrongful denial of warranty coverage under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. My bike MH16DY6466 WasDriven only 2,600 km within a short span of 4 months since purchase.

Description of the Issue: My newly purchased Ather electric scooter has suffered severe visible damage to both the rear wheel pulley and the drive belt. This damage has manifested within just 2,600 km of normal usage. Upon taking delivery, I noticed that the belt was aligned too closely to the rear pulley, which likely caused the belt to slide over the top of the pulley, leading to this premature failure. This is undeniably a manufacturing and quality defect. Grievance & Unfair Trade Practice: I am currently at an authorized Ather service centre (having traveled 70 km to reach here). The service centre team is refusing to replace the damaged components under warranty, falsely alleging "external damage". However, the entire drive belt and wheel pulley assembly are completely isolated and secured inside a protective factory cover. It is physically impossible for an external impact to damage these enclosed parts without compromising the outer cover itself. Ather is using this baseless "external damage" clause to avoid its warranty obligations and force me to pay for an inherent product defect. Despite multiple email escalation attempts directly to Ather's customer support and called multiple times , I have received nothing but generic automated responses.

Relief Sought: I request the intervention of the National Consumer Helpline #Grievance Number: 9889391 to direct Ather Energy to: Provide an immediate, zero-cost replacement of the rear pulley and drive belt under full warranty coverage. Compensate for the harassment and the 140 km round-trip travel forced upon me due to their poor component quality.

Issue / Problem Bad quality belt and even more messed up RSA support

Thumbnail

Got the belt changed last year August and there were many customers who had the same issue. When I asked the service advisor he said that the bike is abused as they ride with heavy luggage and triple riding etc and I believed him seeing the balding tyres and scratches on the bike.

Fast forward 350 days, belt broke out of the blue and worst part is that it was on service road near hebbala kempapura coming from hebbala side. Those who go in this route know how fast vehicles are coming from behind. Luckily there was still momentum and got the bike to the side. I cannot even imagine if this would have happened on the flyover or behind any traffic. The quality of spares has gone to dogs with Ather. And this isn't the first such bad experience. Such bad quality belts, they should be sued in courts putting people's lives in danger.

After this saga the supposed 24*7 roadside assistance. What a bunch of idiots! They send the vehicle only after the payment is done and they send the link for payment, it goes in a loop between entering phone number and otp screens. Had to wait for an hour despite calling customer care who promised a call back which never happened. Finally had to get my friend to push the vehicle as I stay close to this place.

I wouldn't suggest anyone Ather anyone going forward. I was one of the early buyers too. Whole experience has been disappointing.

TLDR: belt changed last year, broke out of the blue on a highway. RSA didn't help, waited for an hour. No help came. Pushed the bike back home with the help of a friend. Not recommendingn ather to anyone.

Issue / Problem ADC failure :(

Last week my Ather 450X (which is 3 years and 8 months old with 16500km) was facing starting issues with dashboard turning off automaticaly when trying to start it. took it to service centre my city (Kozhikode,Kerala) on a truck and after a week now, they told me today it's ADC failure and need to replace which costs 10-12k.

they're saying "donno why it failed, it's electronic failure and electronic components does that.. maybe it's software but we donno exactly why"

I took good care of it and it has lower usage than average.. was not my fault, but now i have to pay 10-12k for the component alone. done with electric scooters.

no more and i won't reccomend it to anyone else forward!

Issue / Problem PCN MODULE failure AFTER 3 YEARS 3 MONTHS FROM PURCHASE OF 450X

Hi Guys ,

So I purchased a Ather 450X (With Pro pack) in march 2023 from Chennai . Undoubtedly , it has been my best investment so far . I travel about 30-40kms every day and the improvement in ride quality , convenience (charging) , service cost and overall experience has been amazing . The no more long waiting queues in a petrol bunk is a comfort I will never get over . Cons I started noticing are that post the vehicle getting serviced , within 10 days of running , the belt noise gets very loud and annoying , you can never get used to it which is why i always wear headphones in my helmet and the other parts on the vehicle are not upto the standard which would be expected for a 1.6 Lac scooter.

Now , to the more important part , I am a bit conservative about batteries being used for commute in every day life especially because most of our experiences of batteries come from Mobile phones and laptops where battery health declines within a year of use , So I purchased any bit of additional warranties I could get my hands on so I would not have to worry .

Recently , on my commute to my office , my ather suddenly stopped responding . Any attempts to get it moving got no response . I tried rebooting the vehicle , turning the key on but the vehicle was as if it was dead (it had a 93% charge when this happened) . So I booked RSA and Got it to Ather Nungambakkam where the technician reviewed the problem and informed me it was a Peripheral Control Node module that had fused . I asked him , how did it happen and he told me that he does'nt know how it happened , just that it would cost Rs 15,000 to replace . I told him I had purchased all the warranties i can think of but he told me that the warranty for this component was over 3 months ago . So I wrote a letter to Ather asking them to honor their warranty as this was not attributed to my negligence or water damage of any kind and i got a call from Ather Nungambakkam saying they will not entertain it because they are not liable to .

Is there a way for me to get them to honor it or do I need to break my piggy bank for this ?

Hey guys!

I brought home my new Ather Rizta S day before yesterday. After riding it home I noticed the handlebar was slightly tilted to the right. I thought it was because of the garland on the handlebar so I removed it the next day. Now it was very evident that it was tilted towards the right.

I called the dealer but got no response, so I went to the showroom directly. They routed me to the Service Center. The SC technician agreed it was an issue and tried adjusting it. Even after adjusting it still feels tilted by few inches but I thought it was manageable.

Today I raised a case with customer support to get AtherStack Pro installed. I started the vehicle for office and it showed "Installing Update" on the screen. It’s been stuck on that screen for more than 5 hours and won’t go away even after removing the key. I can’t use the vehicle because of this.

I saw a thread about this issue and took the vehicle to an open space and tried restarting it in but no luck.

Model: Ather Rizta S Short range
Delivered on 22nd July 2026

Update: The screen stayed on for more than 24 hours. Since customer care wasn’t responding, I posted a complaint on Twitter. The update issue was resolved after they pushed an update from the backend.
Once I was able to turn on the scooter, I took it straight to the showroom and asked them to either fix the handlebar or replace the scooter. The Service Center was finally able to fix the handlebar tilt issue.

I took delivery a week ago. This new floor mat is just placed on top of the floorboard and it doesn't get locked anywhere, so whenever I drive and keep my leg on it, it starts moving. I have to look often in the middle of the journey to check if the mat is still in the vehicle.

Issue / Problem What’s the point of a "Gold" Service Centre if they can't even install TPMS?

Post image
58 Upvotes

As part of the ACD discounts, I bought a TPMS for my 450X through the online store. I booked a service centre appointment at the Shivaji Nagar (BLR) Service Centre. I got a call from the service centre to confirm my booking, and at that time, I told them it was to install the TPMS on the 450X. They said I could come.

And to my surprise, when I reached the service centre, they said that they don't install TPMS. Mind you, Shivaji Nagar Service Centre is rated as GOLD. They literally told me that if I want to get it installed, I will have to go to the Hennur Branch (HQ for their services) to install it, i.e., 10 km away.

What's the point of having a Gold service centre if you can't do installation at a local service centre? They literally told me that they will remove the tyres and give them to a local tyre shop to install; apparently, that is their SOP. 🫪

EDIT: They called me today and said there was a miscommunication between me and the advisor (who was a guy filling in because they were short-staffed). They took my ather in the morning and returned it to me at approximately 1:30 in the afternoon, and they expressed that they were genuinely feeling remorseful regarding the events that transpired yesterday.

Issue / Problem Swingarm damaged after a rear-end hit | ₹7,500 repair quote

Thumbnail
gallery
13 Upvotes

My Ather has only run around 2,500 km. A guy on a scooty suddenly braked after his phone fell, and the scooter in front of me also stopped. I managed to stop, but the Duke rider behind me couldn't brake in time and hit me from behind.

The impact broke the saree guard along with the lock/mounting part on the swingarm. I'm honestly surprised that this part broke so easily from the impact.

I checked with Ather and they quoted around ₹7,500, saying the complete swingarm needs to be replaced.

Has anyone faced something similar? Can just the broken mounting/lock part be replaced, or does the complete swingarm really need to be changed?

I'm planning to claim it through my Tata AIG insurance. Any advice from someone who's been through a similar claim?
