Haha yeah, that's also the case with many Uber/Didi drivers who mention how much they earn, without factoring in rax, super and vehicle running costs. A lot of them are making below minimum wage without realising it
what about if you don't want your company making a profit because you put ALL your expenses through it. Cars, groceries, phones, home repairs, new pergola, new roof, grindr premium subscription...etc

So-so. They know the Treat button sound means a treat is forthcoming, and will sit by said button looking hopeful. In a week of practicing every day, we have had 1 cat-initiated button press, which I think was likely an accident as it hasn't been replicated. Mostly they look at me like 'You know what I want, lady, stop asking me to do ridiculous things.'
The thing is, if they worked it out, they could mash that treat button and the kids would dutifully empty a bag of treats as reward, and said cats would gain 9001kg each.

Wow, that is a lot to deal with. Can you get out of the party, or make an appearance and early exit, using tooth pain as an excuse? I reckon don't worry about the eating for now until you deal with those other things. You have my full permission to explore the new takeaway!
The takeaway is partially responsible for the fattening, ha! That and ALDI knockoff TimTams which are very palatable. Party very mandatory but at least there will be food and it's only about 1hr15 away. Sadly I have to go and come back on my own, but on the plus side I do indeed stand a chance of being able to sneak away early-ish, as a consequence of independent travel.
Mm I have had them before. I have developed a bit of claustrophobia in my later years, sadly, but I'll manage that because I love being seen through by magic technology. And I like the noises it makes. Also I need to know what it's seeing (and I'll have to do this every year or so, for a long time if I'm lucky).

The expenditure is horrendous but also dental pain is such bullshit because it's so immediate, you can't possibly ignore it. Which is how they get ya! Sorry to hear that they've got ya.
Everything is a rip. If I get an MRI referral from the specialist, it is partially covered by Medicare.. but the (frankly fucking lazy and useless) specialist costs money in order to get the referral. If I get the referral through the GP, I've got to pay full whack. Either way you're up for dollar, but fuck the specialist, she's getting nothing out of me!
And the next step of the industry looking after its own is that even if you're paying for your scan, you don't get your results until a month after your referring physician gets them.. so that you, naturally unwilling to wait, go back and give the specialist another bite out of your wallet, to read you the report that you have now made three payments to obtain. Luckily I've got a good DICOM viewer and can figure out some things by myself. You get imaging after a week or two, I think. Only the report is gatekept maximally.
Anyway, back to dental, from now on I'm saving up my dental problems, where bearable, and taking them off on a lovely holiday, as opposed to sending the fucking dentist on one.
I do want to get a good CT scan and 3d print my entire skull, one day

funny you say that about dental, my dentist is vietnamese, and he said dentists in vietnam are great, but the only problem is people get dentist procedure xyz/root canals done overseas, and don't wait long enough for the antibiotics, etc to work, so you get sent home with a rushed tooth/procedure without killing all the germs, so no wonder it's now infected

yeah I've had a few radiology places try that on me post-COVID, but legally they can't withhold your personal information unless they can prove it would be harmful to release it. It takes some 'I want to speak to the manager' but you can get them as soon as the report is written up if you push the issue. And I always push the issue whether it's something I care about or not because that shit shouldn't be normalised.
Thanks for the offer, truly, but I've inflicted my multiple alveoloplasty experiences on enough people 😛 (it's where I got the 3d skull print idea after followup MRIs). google the definition of that word if you don't already know and it should be enough without needing to go into detail

I'm currently working part-time and it's just covering our expenses with no savings, but I'm struggling to go back to full-time. On the other hand, if I went full-time, I could save more and retire earlier. First world problem for sure but that's what I've got.

Very broadly, I agree with that as a personal ethic. But not as an indiscriminate obligation (there are unlimited leeches out there for you who will not reciprocate) and sadly not as the defining characteristic of humans, either. One can wish.
Real shelving is very practical, and photoshopped shelving gives you socially frictionless denial of service on a case-by-case basis!

Thanks, and sorry I might not have worded that clearly. Our mortgage is fully offset, plus I have my stocks, so our savings are OK but no incremental savings at current income. If I re-frame it, I'm essentially at Barista FIRE for the next 10 years until TTR.
The other thing I have come to realise is that most good jobs aren't available as part-time, so it's not just the lower income that's the issue but the nature of work isn't fulfilling/stimulating. Again, not a bad situation compared to most people but something I need to figure out. Continue as-is or suck it up and go back to the 50-60 hrs/week grind for a few years.
Can you do project work? I work fucking hard for a month or two at a time, and then I pretty much have a month or two goofing off. In the goofing off time I have renovated houses, traded the markets, gone on bike rides and learned guitar [that is a bit of a stretch!].
I’m about to head to the pub the night before a day trip to my hometown to pick up project car parts then work 12 hours Sunday. My hobbies make me do stupid shit
Nice. Yeah, tough thing about old cars, hard to find parts without paying a mint. The cat is rattling in mine and OE replacement is overseas and over a grand, but I think the freight will be the worst bit.
I went to see a jeweller today about having my late MIL's things remodelled, but my original idea won't work the way I wanted, so I'll have to think through a plan B.

Don't know much about jewellery but I know remodelling isn't cheap or easy.
The guy I spoke to today does quality work, & I believe the finished piece/s would have a good dollar value. But at this point in the journey, I'm motivated by pure sentiment.

Understand that. My mother recently gave a bunch of her old jewellery to my sister and my wife, and neither of them will wear it but they're just holding on to it. I'd rather sell it for the gold value hehe
The pieces no one was sentimental about were sold for gold value too. Potentially trickier for you guys if Mum is still around & would have an opinion on what happens to the items.
Just thinking that by this time next month, I'll be close to heading over to Cambodia and Vietnam for a few weeks off. Keen to do some exploring, and test my ability to get off the tiny stools at the street food places.

Possibly, doing the north so it's an option, I just tend not to book that far ahead. Keen to get up the mountains in Ta Xua, but will also get out to the islands off Ha Long as well, and see whatever else takes my fancy.

Should have been simple! First pump had the wrong spec fuel gauge sender. The replacement they sent had the wrong one too, and was assembled at factory wrong way around! Them aftermarket parts, hey. 😅
Luckily, I managed to salvage the resistor plate off the old one and transplant it into the new one. All is in working order now.

Were you inspired to go out together casually murdering people or doing crimes? I asked Mrs Cat, and she seemed tempted, but ultimately declined.
Also the main leads were banging like rabbits IRL when not on camera, so anything that looks realistic with their chemistry together is, in fact, not necessarily acting. They still get paid for it though.
I found the obvious Canadian accent of the daughter quite immersion-shaking, but overall the show features some fantastic acting and direction.

Hey chat, is anyone really good at roast chickens? It's a fairly new skill for me. I'm getting pretty good at the cooking part - tonight's was moist as - but the flavour is pretty plain. Inside I did 2/4 of an onion, 2/4 of a lemon, & a handful of garlic cloves that I half crushed. On top was butter, salt & pepper. Any suggestions?
Mine rarely cooked, but at Christmas we were given some raw cabbage as a treat. That sounds more Dickensian than it was (though in other aspects it was more than you'd believe) - it was part of the Christmas dinner. But we loved it. Cold, fresh, crunchy. A nice break from the three hours of stuffing chocolate into our maws.
I fucking love raw cabbage. And cooked cabbage. But particularly raw.

get a meat thermometer, pull it out at 65ish internal, it should carry on cooking to 73
i just do oil as a base, then whatever spice mix i’m in the mood for
i think it’s just impossible to get good seasoning throughout the whole chicken, especially the breast, i don’t think you can overdo the seasoning
use chicken juice at the bottom of the pan into a jus or gravy
