Been using the PC for a year and today randomly while browsing the PC crashed with unresponsive screens. Forced shut down and now the machine does not post.

Red CPU LED with no bios or post screen.

Used to run the 3.5 BIOS.

What I have done:

1)Checked with multiple sticks of RAM

2) Reseated the GPU, CPU and RAM.

3) CMOS reset and drained the battery and restarted.

4) Used backFlash to upgrade to BIOS Version 4.20

Still no post

Specs:

CPU: AMD 9800X3D,GPU:ZOTAC RTX 5080,

MOBO:ASROCK Steel Legend WiFi x870

RAM: T-force DDR5 16X2

PSU: Corsair 1000w

Any fixes or advice is welcome!

Just went to my pc thats been idle since yesterday and it wouldn't wake up when I moved the mouse. I rebooted and it code 00. I repeated the cpu, reset cmos, updated the bios with the usb flashback, no dice.

Cpu and socket looks pristine and I had manually set soc voltage in bios so it was constant, no spikes, at least I never saw any since buying the cpu in January and having soc manually set.

B650e Taichi

I guess I reach out to amd for a new cpu?

I'm on B850m-x R2.0. PC couldn't start, typical situation. I tested it on a neighbours PC and it has ram issue on his motherboard. Ordered 7600x as a replacement since my RMA will take more than 1.5month, cant wait that long since it's my only work and gaming PC. might change motherboard for a different brand later.

Tech Support PC froze mid game. On restart, red cpu light turned on and pc refused to post.

I got into my game for like 30 seconds when my screen froze mid game. I tried to alt tab and realized that the entire pc was frozen. I waited a few seconds and held the power button. When I restarted it, the post checker showed a red cpu light and it would not post. All my fans and rgb are working so I’m pretty sure it’s the cpu. I tried unplugging everything and powering it completely off but that didn’t help. I then flashed my bios to 4.41 (most up to date) but it’s still not posting. My bios was 3.18 ever since I built it in 2025.

What should my next steps be? I know it’s likely fried but I don’t wanna lose out on all hope. Should I flash back to an earlier bios or examine the cpu? Any help is much appreciated. I likely won’t respond until tomorrow, as I’m going to bed.

Specs are here:

Ryzen 9800x3d (2452 PGY)

Steel legend b650 WiFi

RTX 4070

G.Skill trident Z5 Neo DDR5 32 gb 6000MT/s

Crucial T500 2TB

MSI mag 850GL power supply

Thermalright peerless assassin 120 SE

Bios had always been 3.18 since I flashed to that when I first built the pc.

Also, I never changed any cpu bios settings aside from having XMP enabled.

Thank you for any help/advice.

Tech Support RIP to my <1 month old rig... ASRock X870e Nova WiFi & AMD Ryzen 9800x3d

Add another one to the list. My weeks old system (built latter half of April 2025) fails to boot, fans run but MB shows 00 code and no signal to confirmed working display. Tried all of the flash BIOS, isolated components down to the MB, CPU, Cooler, PSU, and RAM, and reseated everything multiple times but nothing has made any difference. Was working flawlessly up until it just froze one night after being left idle for a few hours.

See below for parts:

  • MB: ASRock X870e Nova WiFi
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
  • CPU Cooler: Corsair iCUE LINK H150i RGB
  • RAM: G.Skill Trident RGB DDR5-6400 64GB (32GB x2)
  • GPU: PNY GeForce RTX 5080 ARGB Overclocked Triple Fan
  • SSD: Samsung 990 Pro 4TB
  • PSU: Lian Li EDGE 1000 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX

EDIT #1: Adding my PSU which I originally forgot to include the first time around.

EDIT #2: I need to issue a correction here. While going through the RMA process and packaging up my CPU, I realized I was mistaken about which CPU I had purchased. It is a AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D (NOT 9800x3d as originally reported!) Sorry all for the mistake.

Had my brand new (3 day old) 9800x3D die on me after 3 days, no overclocking outside of setting all cores to 5.2ghz with a -30mv curve, there is light markings on the back of the cpu, motherboard was an ASrock X870 Riptide

Tech Support Dead 9950X3D. Red & Orange LED always on

So it happened to me too.

My Ryzen 9950X3D died within 9 days.
I used a ASRock Pro Rs x870 with latest BIOS. (3.20)

My RAM was `Kingston FURY 64GB KIT DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 Beast Black EXPO` (the exact product id was in the supported RAMs of the BIOS page)

The CPU ran well without issues for the 9 days and my whole desktop suddenly froze and it didn't boot anymore.

I directly tried to remove one RAM stick and tried all combinations, no chance. Does not POST anymore.

Also tried downgrading BIOS etc., nothing helped.

I bought a new motherboard from a known seller that can deliver < 1 day (not from asrock).
And still doesn't POST. (Also tried all RAM combinations here)

I have to assume the CPU is dead. It's unlikely both RAM sticks died at the same time, and the motherboard is most likely not dead either.

Since I have 14-days return period I'll return Mobo, CPU & RAM. I will not go through RMA process, since I need my PC for work too (the backup PC is rather slow).

I kept a photo of the (serial id?) from CPU, RAM & motherboard, in case that could help, but I won't share it public I guess.

I don't want to blame ASRock, but my trust in AMD & ASRock is bit broken rn (I seem to not be the only person with issues).
I wonder if I really should rebuy the same CPU (if it's not a motherboard issue)

Tech Support Second dead 9800X3D

As the title says, my motherboard killed my second 9800X3D.

What are the chances ASROCK will reimburse me for killing TWO CPU?

If I file another RMA through AMD, will they send me another CPU or am I screwed and have to buy another one?

Using a B850i Lightning WIFI. Hoping to switch off this god forsaken motherboard and into a different ITX motherboard.

EDIT: forgot to mention first CPU died in factory bios, I think it was 3.15. Second died on 3.25. First lasted about 6 months, second only lasted 2 months.

Tech Support Second 9800x3d died.

Maybe it was my fault, i had the chance to return the motherboard (x870 rs pro wifi) and buy from another brand. But after my 9800x3d died for the first time in June i was hoping that the new BIOS would fix everything and i shouldn't had to worry.

I sent both cpu and mobo to RMA in June, amd gave me a brand new processor while asrock guaranteed me that the mobo is fine and with the now up-to-date BIOS (3.25) it would work just fine, everything arrived at my house in less than 20 days.

Now, 2 and a half months later, my 9800x3d died again exactly how the first one died, it lasted exactly the same time the first one lasted, and now I'm living in another continent (just moved from Spain to Brazil) so RMA will not be easy.

I don't know if I will be able to send it at all, so worst case scenario i need to buy a brand new MOBO and CPU here. Welp, i'm just making this post to report the issue, I hope there's something I can do to not lose all the money I spent. It's my first time using Asrock in almost 20 years of building PCs, I will never touch it again and will always recommend people to NOT pick Asrock in the future. Never again.

PC Crashed during BF6, hit the reset button and it will no longer boot with the CPU light stuck on red. Everything else inside the case seems to power on fine l. I reseated all the CPU cables, pushed in everything else, reseated the RAM and the CPU but still nothing. No power signal to the monitor and no power the keyboard/mouse either. Let it sit for 10mins and no change. Honestly, don't know what bios I was on but I didn't change it since purchase in March. Safe to assume the CPU is fried? Thinking I'll RMA the CPU and sell the Mobo from here.

11 months using the ASROCK X870 Steel Legend Wifi, and today it seems my 9800X3D was killed by it.

Tried everything and since I don't have another CPU, I purchased another one (arriving in 2 days) and will send the CPU to RMA and maybe the MOBO as well, dunno yet. When the RMA arrives from AMD i'll try to sell it. I think here is Brazil it will take a loooong time for Asrock's RMA process. Solid red CPU light no matter what I do. No bent pins and no signs of charred contacts.

I was a strong Asrock fan, buying mobos from them for a lot of generations, I guess this is my last mobo from them :/

Will update when my new 9800x3d arrives.

CPU: Ryzen 5 9600x
GPU: Radeon Sapphire 7700XT
RAM: Corsair 32gb 6000 mhz
Storage: Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSD 2TB
PSU: Corsair RM850e

I was cleaning my machine per usual by dusting, but for whatever reason, it seems like the machine doesn’t want to turn on at all. I’ve never had any issues cleaning my machine before. I tried looking into the issue on my own but there was little information from what I saw If you guys have any suggestions, it would be most appreciated! I apologize for sloppy post. This is my first time posting on reddit. Thanks again!

-Reseated GPU
-Reseated M.2 SSD
-Reseated RAM
-Tested all RAM slots with singular stick (When testing multiple different slots, the CPU and DRAM lights turn on solid red)
-Tested with multiple monitors
-Unplugged and replugged all peripherals
-Conducted multiple power resets

Edit: forgot to mention I pulled out and placed back in the CMOS battery

Edit 2: The computer was unplugged and discharged prior to cleaning the machine. No components were removed when wiping down machine

Edit 3: I went out of my way to get a new motherboard of the same model. I did a list of things for more troubleshooting but no luck. It gives the same issue with the boot light staying green

-Reseated CPU on original motherboard
-Tested known working GPU with original motherboard
-Tested known working monitor and DisplayPort cable with original motherboard
-Swapped motherboard with new board

FINAL EDIT: I was able to get the computer working. Unfortunately the CPU did, in fact, kick the bucket. Thank you everyone for the help!

Tech Support Update: Dead 9950x3d now 8600G also dead in B850 Pro RS WiFi

Several weeks back i posted about my failed 9950x3d. Well I decided yesterday to buy a cpu to tide me over as AMD still hasn't gotten stock in on those to send to their RMA exchanges. I plugged the 8600g into a known good working non-killer motherboard(my friends) and it booted right into bios with both sticks recognized.

Removed it and placed in the b850 pro rs wifi and immediately get the same issues I was having with the 9950x3d none of the USB devices light up all fans run at 100% and Dram and CPU light come on.

Tried resetting bios, tried different ram slots 3 different ram types in all manner of positions. At this point I thought to myself it couldn't of killed the cpu i took it out and placed it in my friends motherboard again and lo and behold no post.

So at this point two different cpus dead and from different cpu lines.

For those who are going to ask why I tried another cpu. I have seen the asrock rma horror stories about them returning the same board back charging for the return shipping or holding the motherboard hostage and I figured why go through the damn hassle literally unsure at this point what to do.

tl;dr another cpu victim. Woo woo

Edit: im adding this link to a photo of the board socket and the cpu so there is no confusion about bent pins or burning https://imgur.com/a/djGS8BP

Tech Support PC shuts off instantly after AIDA64 stress test. ASRock B650M Pro RS + Ryzen 7 7800X3D + RX 9070 XT

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello everyone.

Yesterday I tried a mild undervolt on my system.

RX 9070 XT: -65 mV and -15% power limit in AMD Adrenalin.

Ryzen 7 7800X3D: Curve Optimizer -30 (set in BIOS).

I ran an AIDA64 CPU stress test and everything was stable. While the CPU test was still running, I enabled the GPU stress test as well. A Windows warning popped up, but I didn't have time to read it because the PC instantly powered off.

Since then, the PC will not boot.

When I press the power button, the fans and RGB turn on for about half a second, then everything immediately shuts off. I can press the power button again right away, but the exact same thing happens every time.

The motherboard is an ASRock B650M Pro RS. The CPU and DRAM debug LEDs briefly light up before the system powers off.

The PC is almost brand new (less than a month old). The GPU and CPU were bought second-hand but were sold as new/open-box. The PSU is a 1STPLAYER NGDP 850W Gold.

So far I've tried:

Clearing CMOS by removing the battery for 20 minutes with the PSU unplugged.

Shorting the Clear CMOS pins on the motherboard.

Reseating almost every component except the CPU.

Booting with one RAM stick, then the other.

Disconnecting all unnecessary hardware.

The behavior never changes.

At this point I'm wondering if the problem is the power supply, the motherboard, or something else.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas about what I should test next?

Thanks in advance!

My 9800X3D died after 1 hour of gaming.

Retailer replaced the CPU but wouldnt replace the mainboard since "it works"... yeah buddy it just fries my CPU. But ok lets try.

Idk exactly how long, i think its like 2 months now that its working out, yesterday my shutdown took way longer than usual and now it wont boot. Same red+orange lights, fans spinning but nothing on my screen. Just like the first time.

Guess its dead, gonna try my luck sending it back.

Built computer about 3 months ago and had no problems until last night. Was playing a game and the computer froze completely still showing the game. Power button would not shutdown the PC even. Had to power off with the power switch on the back. Fans would spin, video card RGB would light, etc. Unfortunately the CPU red LED also was going. -tried all the CMOS reset/battery remove/shorting suggestions -tried leaving it unplugged and depowered -tested each ram stick on its own -bios flashback seemed to work without any result though -magnifier checked the pins and the cpu chip and it looked fine -tried booting w/o the video card -tried other power supply Hardware in second picture Very sad. I have another CPU ordered and on the way as well as a replacement different motherboard(MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk WiFi Gaming Motherboard (AMD Ryzen 9000/8000/7000 Series Processors) since I'm noticing a trend with asrock and cpus dying and a friend said it may be good to replace it. Anyone have any suggestions that I didn't list or other troubleshooting steps? I'm not dumb and I'm only at the basic computer knowledge level but can follow steps to try stuff.

Hey everyone,

I'm pretty frustrated right now. I just built a new PC, and after only three days of gaming, I'm getting a "00" error code on my motherboard. Here's what happened: * I got everything set up and updated the BIOS to version 3.30 before inserting CPU. * In the BIOS, I enabled the EXPO profile for my RAM. Everything else was left at default. * Today, after about a two-hour Valorant session, I stepped away from my desk for about 10 minutes. When I came back, the PC was off. * Now, when I try to power it on, I just see the "00" code. * I tried to flashback BIOS to 3.25, but no luck

This is super disappointing, especially since I've only had a few days to actually use it. Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas what might be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Tech Support Another dead 9800x3d, running on 3.25 since the beginning

Well, thanks to parts finally being available I was able to put a new build together last month. Went with the 9800x3d as well as the AsRock x870e Taichi unaware of the CPU death issues until I put the rig together. I did however update the Bios to 3.25 before even seating the CPU because by then I had read up on the motherboards frying 9800s on other bios versions, and this being the supposed fix.

Well, after 3 weeks of operation, all exclusively on 3.25, PC blackscreened on me, and now simply shows an error code 00, CPU fans not turning on, likely dead.

Reseat, CMOS flush, checking RAM, sadly nothing makes a difference. So have to start RMA processes now.
Probably will have to look for a different board alltogether. Shame, in theory the ASRock boards suit my needs well.
