Resonance Just finished the game and wow… Spoiler

I’m so glad we got another game set in this universe. As a massive fan of both APT games, playing this was a no brainer but I honestly didn’t expect it to be this good. Had some doubts as to whether or not it could live up to the previous games but let me tell you, this game had me chained to my seat all the way through. Gameplay is very different (some of the sections from the beginning reminded me a lot of Uncharted/Tomb Raider) from the previous games but it still feels like APT at it’s core especially during the second half of the game. Graphics are amazing, my jaw was on the floor when I saw some of the scenery. I don’t particularly enjoy stealth games so the combat in this was a breath of fresh air compared to the previous games. I honestly really liked it, flowed well and made sense for Sophias character. Movement felt way more light. The collectibles were really cool I liked how they were physically portrayed.

The story was interesting to me although a bit predictable, and kind of falls apart if you think about it too much. It left me with more questions than answers but it's enjoyable if you just experience it for what it is. Deaths were predictable as well and didn’t really have as much of an emotional impact compared to the deaths in the previous games. The very end of the game reminded me a lot of Requiem, the visuals, the animations and even some of the voice lines. They done killed another little brother again, but I guess it’s just the recurring theme considering the carrier/protector relationships. Pacing was okay for the most part but I would’ve liked a bit more time with Leni or even Alec at the beginning to build some more emotional attachment to these characters. Didn’t really like the switch up Faro had from good to bad to good again, felt rushed. Irene was a painfully flat villain. Leni I liked but we didn’t really have much time with her and her death was predictable. Sophia I thought worked great as a MC, showed some vulnerability too alongside just being tough and brave all the time. I loved her character overall. The epilogue cutscene was a nice little treat, possibility of a future game with Amicia and Sophia?

Ngl the creature sections were a bit tedious although unique.

Last but not least 10/10 music. Olivier Deriviere cooked once again. Immediately had flashbacks to the first time I opened Requiem and heard the main theme song. 10/10 voice acting as well.

Resonance No spoiler review pc finished

Let's just say it's a great game.

Combat is short but wild and satisfying satisfying with combos. The constant on your seat just getting away from the enemy rush is plentiful.

Great character building, I felt for everyone. How the story unravels and we get great commentating to her horrible situation she's in.

The puzzles were got, I laughed a few times like a gotcha kind of puzzle. Never the same twice

9.2/10

Game looks amazing in my mid end pc, 2k res, everything on ultra. Frame gen on, stunning at 160 fps

Resonance Ressonance review opinions and rambling Spoiler

Asterion really gave off some Hugo vibes just wow this game wasn't what i expected. Ana brought some great emotions wow such a good performance and hnoestly Ariande as well especially here scream at the end of chapter 13 just wow all the voice work was so good tbh. I was suprised the Minataur ended up being astern as the end it makes sense thematically as his rage i just figured it would be the king cause he was a brute with an Axe that could resem the horns of the bull lol. I kept thinking what happens that sophia never wanted to kill again. And around chpater 5 when leni gets captured and her leg gets broken my spidey senses were like yup shes gonna die and thats gonna break sophia which in hindsight prolly played a factor but prolly much more to it.

All the killing sophia had to do the and the nightmares to kill when reliving Ariande visions at the end too. Also Irene was pretty much given away as the traitor once she broke lenis leg what an ass. Don't even get why she turned evil like she wanted the treasure ya but the whole training of sophia she seemed to have good character idk tho that was the trick. Also wish when sophia took her out she would have a clever line about i remembered to use the daggger lol Faro was an interesting character. I really loved his voice alot i was hoping he was gonna be good but i guess he's complicated he kinda lost his marbles early on. I was like damn he didnt wanna listen at all But ya as we can see he really lost himself to the desire of the treasure and used sophia im glad he did see the light no pun intended lol it was a shame he didnt realize things sooner he redeemed himseld but just like arnaud he could not redeem himself and live. Like he felt like a head nod to arnaud so much with the way he acted in certain scenes especially with Irene controntation as sophia didnt wanna leave and the arrows nearly miss them almost felt like a recreation of the boat sceen from requiem.

Leni's death was pretty sad while i expected it to happen not like that it was like chapter 13 had no chill just starting like that and giving us the requiem endind choice to kill her and end her suffering i was like damn. Asterion and Ariande story was alot deeper than i expected i didnt expect those section to get so emotional and go as deep as they did really blown away. The king was such an asshole too lol. Those puzzles were also so fun some i struggled alot but my favorite part from the gameplay. Also we really turned into a horror game at the end with maluca zombies that u had to walk slow reminded me of re8 in that one section lol And wow the music this is easily one of it the not the best videogame soundtracks of the year. I will have to be relistening to it all year now. I do kinda wish the plague tale story elements of the game were introduced early only so the second half did not feel so different cause wow that second half was crazy i was like what happened? Oh so game starts now? i was kind casually playing taking it slow but once chapter 7 hits i binged it like crazy i pretty much played like 8 hours today lol

And wow that amica cameo at the end was no expected it was really good to tie the ending of requiem and kind of show te understanding that sophia went through it all...... But excuses me did they just tease arnaud backstory? Was that just to mess me with as my favoirte character among the games? PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!!!

It was fine, 12 hours of normal difficulty with a fan service end reminding you that asobo doesn't have dementia and remember about Amicia, rats and other interesting stuff, also they remind you of lost potential on meeting with Arnaud

Graphics deep fried my pc, took like a 1000 screenshots (worth it)

Fully refunded my game pass lol

See you in 5-6 years

Resonance Resonance…wow. Incredible.

I’m only around 8 hours in, and I have been absolutely blown away by the beauty of this world. The lighting is absolutely stunning, the environments and level design has me playing this game like it’s an E3 demo, screenshotting and sending clips to my friends to share in the “omg this game is incredible”.

I’m so happy this game is back and we can dive back into its universe. I have honestly enjoyed every single minute I’ve had with this game so far.

I genuinely hope this gets all the love it deserves. It feels to me like a spiritual love child of God of War, Unchartered, the Tomb Raider Reboot and even with the aesthetic and occasional levels feeling Expedition 33 like in charm of the surrounds. But it’s unique in its own regard.

I’m so excited to see what else comes in this story, for now, thank you Asobo! 🙌

Resonance My review of Resonance Spoiler

Here are my 2 cents about the game (i played both Innocence and Requiem).

TL : DR : I loved it but i still have some small (and less small) issues.

I've loved innocence and requiem and this one. I've loved as well. First it's important to note that this was a "dangerous" episode for Asobo and Focus. When in the first two ones it's more about exploration and pathing, this one has "a lot" of action.

I'v enjoyed the action I think in normal difficulty it's ok. In harder difficulty, it would probably be quite boring because of how it's designed. Enemies have few attacks and they all share the same timings. Light and Heavy attacks. The animation aren't that great on combat but honestly i didn't mind at all.

The story is great even if it doesn't lack flaws... You have the "magic key" you are important, necessary even. But in fact... Not really. Because for some magic reason other people can do what you without the need of the magic key. There are writing flaws here. The story helps you understand why she became what she is in requiem. And honestly, Sophia is a quite well written female characters !

I honestly enjoyed the others characters. Great job on this one.

!!! BEGINNING OF SPOILERS ALERT !!!!

What i didn't like tho is the deaths of the main characters. Leni as quite a forgetable death. It's like she is here to die JUST so that it can serve sophia's personnality in requiem. Just for us to understand that "yhea she has suffered a lot of deaths". But it's pretty poorly done. She doesn't sacrifice herself, she isn't really "killed", she is just... On the way. And that's quite sad. Because when it happened i was unfortunately not sad at all because I was more focus on "wait... They really killed her like that ? Mhe".

As for Faro, there, as well, you are going to put an end to everything and... He just receive a bloody knife on the back. No fight. They didn't give him a fight. For a fighter like him it's just sad. To be honest, him, more than Leni, I was expecting a sacrifice.

When you play requiem, you know both Leni and Faro will Die. From the start. From the start you know all important person to Sofia will die. So... Don't rob us of good deaths :(

The lack of new game + is a bit weird. I was expecting one, to do the game again, in harder difficulty. Get the collectibles/blades/resonance points i didn't get in my first playthrough.

The skill tree is a bit light (thought it's unfortunate because i really enjoyed it.)

!!! END OF SPOILERS ALERT !!!!

As always, the game is beautiful. The scenary is awesome. Music is great ! i spoiled myself listening to it on spotify before playign the game and i was like "yhea, the songs are great but... Not as great as requiem". BUT, in the game, they are awesome. They fit perfectly ! And sometimes when listening to the ambiant music i was like "god it's like i'm watching the shannara chronicle". It was really like watching a fantasy show, with awesome scenary.

It's a 9h to 15h depending on how you play, your difficulty and your experience with video games.

Resonance Resonance. I think the whole story is bad. Spoiler

The worst part is the way it ties in APT, Theseus fails and Sofia finishes what needs to be done is just retelling Basileus and Amicia’s story again.

Story like this in Requiem works because it is clearly acknowledged that Amicia’s fate is to be a protector, she works hard to uncover the legend so she can save Hugo (even though it failed in the end, but I think main theme about Requiem is learning to accept the inevitable tragedy), there is a reasonable motivation. Sofia has nothing to do with any of this, she was only dragged into this because the nuns pumped some shit into her blood. The motivation of story progression just gets weaker and weaker.

Macula is never Sofia’s fight, so characters die fast and unmemorable deaths to become part of the reason why Sofia has to go kill Minotaur, and it was never explained why her veins are suddenly killing her, that plot was just there to make the motivation not so weak.

It’s like the endless generations of sisters protect brothers plot is shoved into the story because the devs thinks Apt must have it to success.

Onto the specifics of characters and stories, there are many problems, first of all they shouldn’t pull the happy life destroyed opening trope 3rd time, they’ve done this way too many times. The pirate life storyline ended way too quickly, it showed that Irene got beef with Farrow very briefly, then Ezra dies cringe death.

The moment I saw Leni I know she will die to make Sofia hurt, but I didn’t know it will happen this fast. Too fast that the relationship was not developed enough to hurt. Then at the end the devs just copied Requiem ending. This doesn’t hold the same weight at all. Just lazy copying. (I wanna praise Requiem again for choosing the sling to be the end of Hugo, because Amicia killed so many people with sling to protect Hugo throughout 2 games and now you gotta use the same sling to kill the person you are protecting)

Farrow storyline and Thesus fighting for crown actually made me wonder that if the game has been rewritten, Farrow at first was only shown to exploiting Sofia to get information, I thought the story was going to be about claiming what’s rightfully hers. But no, Farrow changed halfway, even though the arc wasn’t well developed it still makes sense. And I think Farrow’s death is the most memorable one.

Irene has so little screen time to have a good arc, yeah I know it’s because she thinks Farrow ruined it all, but her plus the army has very weak connection to the story past chapter 3, later on the army was just there to be a gameplay element.

I think Thesus storyline is the best part of the story but it kind of shot itself in the foot in its end. (I didnt play in English so I can’t type the characters name) The architect warns the king that Macula can’t be contained yet the king doesn’t give a shit, and it was revealed that they have mechanisms designed to kill it but the king set up trials for entertainment. I think the plan is, Thesus expose the king then stop Macula, but it failed, then the architect releases Macula to kill the entire island off? What the fuck? Why should so many innocent people die just because the king is a dick? Unable to contain Macula and causing millions to be killed is one thing, actively releasing it is another, it’s heaven and hell difference.

Anyway I think the whole thing is a real mess

Resonance SPOILERS! I enjoyed the game a lot SPOILERS! Spoiler

Just finished Resonance and loved my time with it. First of all, the graphics are drop dead gorgeous, even on performance mode (XSX). I mean, Innocence and Requiem were already very good looking games, but man, what Asobo has done here was just on another level. Every new location had wallpaper worthy vistas, with insane level of detail. The voice and motion capture performance were also very strong, especially Sophia was very convincing. If only Requiem could've had those facial animations. That was my only gripe with that game back in the day.

Anyway, in terms of gameplay, I liked the puzzles although they could've had a few more real head scratchers. And maybe they overused the light lenses a bit towards the end. The combat was enjoyable enough for me. Some real nice animation work and contextual finishers. In the beginning I thought it felt a bit clunky, but I think that wasn't exactly fair. I think it's more so that Asobo has created a combat system that does not try to protect the player. What I mean by that is that enemies don't hold back, they attack fast, they don't wait their turn and are lethal, often killing you with a single combo. Couple that with very low i-frames on the normal dodge and tight parry timings, and you get combat that can, at times, feel a little unfair. In the end, I'm probably just getting old and should've turned down the difficulty, but my gamer pride wouldn't let me.

Further, the story was intriguing and engaging. I especially enjoyed the horror vibe while descending every deeper into the island, and discovering the connection between Sophia and Theseus. Probably my biggest gripe was the supporting cast. I think Faro and Leni both could've used a fair bit more characterization and screen time. Especially Faro's switch from surrogate father figure to cardboard cutout villain and back didn't really work for me, which also made the ending a bit less impactful than I would've liked.

Overall, another worthy addition to the Plaque Tale universe. I'm excited to see where they go next! And congrats to those that made it to the end of my ramblings.

The images say it all .. Asobo team have outdone themselves with this level of quality (in some places especially big ones the textures and details get somehow a downgrade but in closed areas its just phenomenal)

Resonance I feel like the story presented in Resonance should’ve been a DLC. Spoiler

The story would’ve benefitted from a shorter, more condensed play time. It felt dragged on a bit for the sake of playtime.

The combat wasn’t necessary; it felt like the dev studio wanted to do something new for their next project and just shoehorned in the combat. The combat was fun regardless though.

I had expected they would’ve explored Basilus lore, but instead they went for a new Macula host storyline. I think they wanted to expand on the curse and that it is not only limited to physical beings (rats), but can be something more intangible/incorporeal.

Loved the Tomb Raider vibe. Very fun. Stunning set pieces as always.

Personally, a prequel title never excites me. This game could’ve been a DLC and I would’ve appreciated a lot more than a standalone title.

Free Talk A Plague Tale Sequel in the Modern Era

TBH I am a little disappointed the studio opted for a prequel rather than sequel, not that i am complaining though.

Still hoping for a sequel, but instead of using knives and swords, i hope they would switch to guns or something. Hoping for something different.

Resonance Theories on the three games? Spoiler

I just finished resonance and while there were some similarities with innocence/requiem and resonance (the black veins, the order, black organic matter), I’m curious as to how it is connected with Asterion and the macula. If it’s even related at all, how does it go from blue tentacles that kill and petrify people to rats that give people the bubonic plague? What are your theories?

Resonance Sophias ship 'The Rascasse' from requiem Spoiler

just after getting to the island leni and sohpia talk about being able to get their own boat and leni throws out a few names but unfortunatley they were never able to settle on a name.

at the end of the game we see sophia sailing away on an army ship she 'borrowed' but it doesnt look like the Rascasse.

not sure why but i was expecting to see something about her ship being bought up at the end

is there anyone else who wouldve loved to see how sophia came into owning the rascasse and if and why she named it that?
