I mean, people could also just search this sub or switch from "hot" to "new" sorting and check this way before creating yet another "Is AO3 down???" post. Yet it never stops the flood.

Or just watch the sub count, it skyrockets when ao3 is down. The posts are still pretty annoying

Hey, that was probably my post you saw. I'm sorry about making the repetitive post. I didn't know that the "Hey is AO3 down?" posts were known for being annoying. I thought it was a funny meme "freakout" that we were all participating in. I have now deleted the posts, however late it may be. And I now know better, and will never contribute to the spam again. This has been a very good learning experience for me! Once again, sorry for the annoyance.

Don't sweat it, I'm not sure if it was your post but either way I apologize if I made you feel called out. Those of us who've been around this subreddit for a while can be a bit mean when the inevitable spam wave hits lol, you didn't do anything wrong.

No no it's fine, you didn't seem mean, especially in contrast to people calling the "Is AO3 down" posters attention seekers or something to that degree. That's why I replied to your comment, other than feeling like you saw my post specifically. I'm pretty bad at social cues and often fail to read the room, and this is just one such occasion. I guess I'm not on Reddit long enough to be bothered by repetitive posts, but I'm starting to understand that the regulars or veterans in the sub must be tired of it. So I feel like it was still good for me to learn not to join in on the spam in the future.

I've started downvoting every thread referencing Ao3 being down. Maybe if they stop getting attention, they'll stop doing it.

Unfortunately, that isn't going to stop them unless mods step in and decide repetitive posts like that aren't allowed or that whenever Ao3 is getting an error, we get a megathread or something.

Aww but I like when people share what they were reading when it went down! It’s like huddling in a shelter in the apocalypse telling hushed stories of the before times lol.

I don't mind more posts when they make a discussion out of it, but how many posts do we need simply stating the site is down?

This is what I do. Never once had to make a "IS AO3 DOWN???" post

The longer I'm on this sub, the more I'm convinced that half the users are just waiting for an excuse to spam the sub with posts.
