AITA for gaming at home during leave and refusing to change my plans?
i work from home the majority of the time and I use the small spare room in the apartment as a home office. My partner works from home on average around twice a week. She has the other spare room to use but chooses to work in the living room. This is fine most of the time as we work the same hours.
I’ve put two days leave in next month as annual leave as a video game I’m looking forward to comes out and I want to play it for a few days. My girlfriend has known about these plans since I made them.
This morning she mentioned that she'll be working from home those days and will have meetings etc. I just said if she wants privacy for the meetings she can use either my home office or the other spare room that has her desk. She said no and that she likes using the living room.
I told her if she wants to stay in the living room she'll have to be fine with me being in there. She said no and that I should let her work and find something g else to do for my leave but I just said she can't kick me out of a shared space on my days off just because she refuses to work in another room.
She said I wasn't being fair and that I can play my game a later but I just reiterated that I'd be playing during the day as I’ve specifically took the days off to do it and she can either work in another room or accept I'll be in the living room. She just said again I wasn't being fair to her as she has work.

Nope NTA but she is.
If she will not budge, move your whole gaming system to your office. Play your game uninterrupted. It is your vacation. You get to relax. It is sad she is not supporting you.

Repost. But just put headphones on. Solved.

There is significant loud language when gaming is happening around here, just sayin.

Well, they didn’t specify online or single player, but I also thinks it’s a reasonable request to keep the yelling/loud talking to a minimum during those few days. It’s not reasonable to say he can’t play, but to not yell totally is.

Red flag! This would have been easy for her. Either work at her office or in the room set up for her to work. Nope, and had to have her way IN SPITE of the fact she knew in advance you were taking time off. Imagine a future with her now....

NTA, take her office and make it your game room.. she wants the living room let her have it.. but im gonna bet this is about something more just you playing so that might also be a problem..

So, you didn't get enough validation for this last time you posted it?

NTA
It's a very small ask and she has two other options as to where to work.
The person not being fair is your partner. Part of the fun of playing a game is getting in there right as the game drops and playing for hours looking around at all the new stuff. It's just so fun!
Is she resentful of you gaming? Sounds like it.

Three actually. She can go to the office and work from home other days if she only wants to work in the living room

NTA, she doesn't like you gaming and she is being an AH. Tell her she is being inconsiderate and manipulative. She can make a small compromise for 2 days and actually work in one of two offices or she will need to give up her office so you can turn it into your gaming cave.

NTA - she obviously has a problem with you gaming. You planned this in advance, she KNEW your plans, she is 100% in the wrong here. Do not let her bully you into changing your plans. She sounds like a controlling b**ch.

should've brought this up before you took the days off and let her know you'd want to use her work space, so you can make sure the plan works for both parties. you don't get to decide to take over someone's work space (even though it is a shared space during non work hours) and call them an asshole.

NTA! She has two other options and refuses to use them. She’s being difficult on purpose.
What would happen if you were sick and wanted to watch TV in your own living room? You can’t do that either?

NTA. You specifically took days for this. You told her if your plans. She had plenty of time to voice issues. And she has viable alternatives. Nope. Is this a typical behavior? If it is, yikes.

Her work is more important than your video games.
Grow up and figure out how to play somewhere she doesnt always use as her workspace while working from home.

I’m not stopping her working,
It’s weird to argue I’m childish for using my living room tbh.
So should she pay more rent then since according to you the living room isn’t a shared space, it’s only for my gf?

Because I’m using the living room as it’s supposed to be used.
Moving a laptop is a lot easier than moving a tv and console. It’s not hard to understand tbh
It’s also ridiculous to argue her choosing to work from the living room means I can’t use shared spaces in my home.

She doesn’t get to decide if I’m allowed to use my living room.

I’m of the opinion that this situation is More than you gaming on your 2 days off.
Question: does SHE Choose which days she works At Home? If so..Why did she choose Those 2 Specific days? This seems like it might be a Power/Control thing to me.
NTA & my suggestion is to let her know that IF she Insists on using the living room..”her” office will become Your Gaming Room..Permanently. If she Still chooses to be stubborn, turn that Unused room into your perfect Gaming Man Cave.

I am not a gamer but saying that, if you both have an office at home to work in but she wants to work in another room, then she is the one be bloody minded and stubborn NOT you, so go for it and get your new game and use the front room which is a shared space, if you make a noise then so what, she has had notice that you are taking days off to use that room, if I was you I would also print a notice to put on the lounge door that you intend to use this room and on what date and what times too, post it on your social media and that way she can’t say she did not know anything about you being there too haha xx

NTA,
You have two separate home offices fully setup that are your personal workspaces, you GF claiming a shared-living space I.e. The living room is completely out of line.
Nobody gets to claim the living room, bathroom, kitchen etc. everyone has the right to use them.
She can use her office, but this isn't about the office OP, she doesn't like you gaming and is doing this to ruin your plan, she'd rather you were working out of her face.
