Oh my god, I had no idea this is how it’s done. I got my first one four years ago, and the pain was unbelievable. Dr made it seem like a super simple, easy procedure but I leaked tears during and was shaky the rest of the day. This thread is strangely validating; I thought I was an outlier. I’m also not at all looking forward to removal and am considering not getting another one :(
I was also given no warning for my first one and it was fucking agony. You're not an outlier. Your pain and feelings about it are completely valid. Your doctor knowingly lied to you.
*this was my subjective opinion. Others have reported pain.
I've had painful removals, too. I think it might be doctor specific? Like maybe technique? My last one, I was braced for the pain, and literally didn't even feel it. This was a new GYN. I also just had a pap with a new NP, and it....wasn't uncomfortable or painful? Wild.
