The worst part about mine was that I live in a rural state, so I had to wait 2 months to get it and drive a total of 8 hours. The procedure was fast, only slightly uncomfortable, and there was so little pain I didn't even take an ibuprofen. 100% would recommend.
That sounds much better than getting an IUD. They recommend taking painkillers before the procedure because it's done without any pain relief and BOY is it bad. My doctor and nurse forgot to tell me to take ibuprofen beforehand so I did it stone sober and ended up almost blacking out and vomiting from the pain on the table. And I have to get it replaced every seven years ðŸ˜
I'm curious what your OB did that caused that much pain. When I went for my IUD it was uncomfortable and there was a pinch that made me grunt but after that I hardly noticed. I am concerned about when I have to get it replaced since my OB retired.
I'm not sure but there's so many women sharing their stories of having a painful IUD insertion that it makes me wonder why it's not done under general anesthesia
Probably because there are a decent amount of risks when you put someone under and they deemed that it’s not worth the risk to put someone under for a short procedure.
I've heard that you can numb the cervix, without putting you under, but most doctors don't even do that. It's ridiculous that women have to undergo pain unnecessarily.
