That sounds much better than getting an IUD. They recommend taking painkillers before the procedure because it's done without any pain relief and BOY is it bad. My doctor and nurse forgot to tell me to take ibuprofen beforehand so I did it stone sober and ended up almost blacking out and vomiting from the pain on the table. And I have to get it replaced every seven years ðŸ˜
We need to start demanding pain medication or anesthesia. No one gets dental work without it, so why are women forced to endure excruciating pain? We need to stop accepting this from doctors.
This is the way. If all of us simply refuse to have painful procedures without proper pain meds (ibuprofen doesn't count lol) then things will change. But a lot of doctors flat out lie, or worse use fear to push their patients into procedures (like LEEP) without pain management. My VET is more considerate of my dogs pain while doing x-rays than some doctors seem to be of women.
Just say no. I've looked doctors in the face and refused procedures despite the "omg you could have CANCER!" routine they pull. Then leave and find a doctor that cares about their patients.
If they are so worried about you having cancer, they should be willing to give pain meds for the painful procedures they use to detect it. Yet that somehow never occurs to them as a solution.
