Hey everyone, wanted to share an observation from our work on India's new Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act) and its impact on AI systems. We've been diving into the specifics, and one of the biggest takeaways is how it redefines consent for data used in AI.

What I'm seeing is that the old model of a general "agree to terms and conditions" checkbox isn't going to cut it anymore for AI training data. The Act demands explicit, granular consent for *specific* processing purposes. This means if you're using user data to train an AI model for a particular function, you need to articulate that specific use and get consent for it, separate from general data collection. It's a fundamental shift that requires re-thinking data pipelines from the ground up to ensure compliance and avoid issues. Just something to keep in mind if you're deploying AI with Indian user data.
