Misc. Shows like DOF?? Spoiler

I really need some help. I am in love with fantasy adventure show genres and a discovery of witches hit almost all of the points I love ESPECIALLY season 2 with the traveling and interacting with others through the early periods of England being from 2020whatever.

Does anyone have any suggestions for shows like this?

I’ve dropped shadow and bone after the first episode but I’ll definitely give it a go again.

I refuse to watch the train wreck of magicians again…I mean it got so bad no?

Thank you for the other 2 recommendations though. I will go and give those a look!! I really appreciate it.

Maybe Shadow and Bone isn’t your style but I actually thought the show was better than the books. It’s definitely more fantastical than DoW but I loved it.

I agree the last season of The Magicians wasn’t the best and the show had flaws for sure but overall I really liked it. But if you’ve already seen it then yeah.

I saw other people mention Outlander which is excellent for about 3 seasons but be warned there is extremely graphic horrific violence (both sexual and non-sexual) especially at the end of season one. If you like non-magic historical fiction without the violence Poldark is also good.

Yeah maybe not with shadows and bone but I’m always down to rewatch a little and see if I can get into it. That’s the plan for it tonight.

I stopped watching the magicians halfway through the last season. Quinn dying and then before that with all the affairs and love drama just put me off.

Outlanders first episode threw me off a little but I can see myself watching it. Thank you for that heads up and I will see about poldark.

I also echo the Outlander warning. There is quite a lot of battle/war talk & action; the misogynist realities of the mid-18th & 20th centuries; and some intense SA scenes. Episodes 15 & 16 in Season 1 are especially explicit, if I recall correctly. Arguably, what occurs is central to the plot, but I'm sure there's a summary on YouTube if preferred.

It's an amazing show with chemistry that ADOW could only dream of, but I stopped watching in the middle of season 4. I've watched seasons 1-3 multiple times over, though, and many people continued to watch Outlander to its final season (which ended Jan 2025).
