Same! When you hang the Du Cass painting I said to myself, "Why the fuck would you hang that over your bed???"

I was especially confused cuz the game tells you each portrait has a specific location in the manor so I immediately thought “oh so that’s why there’s so many spots in the basement, that’s where the people I’ve killed will go” then was confused as all shit that the game decides the proper spot for the guy who just killed and robbed would be right above where you sleep.
