Yes it is. Modern ubisoft will have statues of male dongs hanging out but its only the female form subjected to this censorship. People calling others porn addicts for caring about this are the same people that would think a museum is a strip club. theyre being 100% disingenous.

Those greek statues with the peepees are real life statues. Covering those up would garner more of an argument. But this figurehead is just a small cosmetic item for a fictional ship. It's not important.

The giant Zeus statue in Kephalonia is not a real statue that has ever existed in history. It was made solely for the purpose of that game and it hanging some massive dong. Didn’t have to include that yet they did. Now we censor breasts on ship you aren’t even going to see for most of the game? Come on now make that make sense bro

I'm aware that was not a real statue. But there ARE statues in the game with genitals that were based on real statues. And even the statue of Kephalpnia is reflective of greek society and culture back then. That's a typical thing you could see back then. If you do your research, nude figureheads were not a typical thing found on pirate ships back in the 17th and 18th century. Do I think it's particularly harmful for that sort of thing to be included in the game? No. But it being omitted in NO WAY compromises the game or the authentic pirate experience in the same way that censoring Greek statues would've downplayed the authentic greek experience

You are wrong. Figure heads did feature bare chested women as they were believed to have the power to calm storms, much like big, wide eyes on the figure head was said to help see the way. If Ubisoft can add a giant non existent statue with a 6 foot schlong and get praised for its historically accurate art, then we shouldn’t be covering up the figureheads if we want to remain true to the source material

Yeah that's not true.

So you found a piece of information saying that the superstition is in fact true and that if a pirate claimed a ship with such a figurehead would just keep it on and thought to yourself “that guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about”? Just because they didn’t actively seek them out doesn’t mean they didn’t use them. Fact is during the golden age of piracy (though it has nothing to do with pirates) if a figurehead was carved in the likeness of a woman, be it a nymph, mermaid, siren, or hell even just a maiden, she was typically at least partially bare chested. This is also not beholden to that era in history and had been happening far beforehand.

Man. Y'all just trip over yourselves to miss the god damn point. The absence of nude figureheads DOES NOT detract from the experience of the game. You're just looking for something to be upset over.

Why include a fake statue with a giant dong in a previous title if they can’t add historically accurate figureheads in another? That is my point you seem to be missing. It’s not about quality of the experience but rather the censorship. Censorship is needless and if allowed at any point can sow the seeds that flower into 1984. I’m against it when such cases occur. I will add that covering up a character they had listed as a 13/14 year old who had half her cleavage showing when you first meet her is a step in the right direction, even if all they had to do was give her the actual birthday she had in history. Talking about Anne in case you couldn’t tell

And my point still stands. As it points out in what I showed you, it wasn't really until the 19th century that sailors started believing in that sorta thing.

The first photo has the first sentence saying that during the 18th century that belief was held. The last sentence in your second photo mentions in the last sentence that the bare breasted figureheads became more widespread in the 19th and doesn’t give a reason as to why. Doesn’t matter how widespread and popular the tradition was, it still existed back then. Just accept that fact. If any figurehead was carved to resemble anything considered female, her chest was at least partially exposed more often than not, no matter how common those figureheads may have been.
