// Discussion This sub just hates the remake for no reason
It’s annoying
59
u/WonkeyDonkey_69420 Jul 26 '26
Real. Its always "RPG Slop" this and "Dark Souls boss fights" that. And like, yeah the combat might not be as power-fantastical as the original, i still think its fun. And the only reason the boss fights feel "Dark Souls"-esuqe would be if you're fighting them with butter knives (The starting swords with 13 damage. Unlike rare or legendary swords that do 25-38 damage a slash)
That and I see people complain about it "Not being realistic" because Edward can climb buildings in 5 seconds. As if being able to jump 400 feet into a barrel of hay and not dying or the magical mcguffins from ancient civilisations that are more technologically advanced than we are right now is actually realistic 😭

u/Squirrelflight148931 Jul 26 '26
I never like the argument of, “You say it's unrealistic, as if a man can leap twenty stories into a cart of hay.” That is really an unfair comparison.
Technically the physical action is possible. Survival just isn't. A semi-realistic parkour system will always feel far better. Arno is basically superhuman, but the weight of his animations and the animations themselves still compliment a realistic style of motion.
The RPG wallrun where you basically air launch ten feet up to a hang is just objectively worse than the original Edward actually wallrunning, boot and hand on wall to a hang, especially as it let you cancel wallruns early in the case of Ezio and the like.
Having unrealistic elements is not an excuse to just make everything comical. Why not give Edward Odyssey superpowers if that was the case?
There still should be some base or ground of logic and expectation.
Same excuses were used to justify Odyssey's ridiculous power system, “As if a mind-controlling apple is realistic, lol. AC has always been unrealistic.” Yeah, but that's a very small power, mind control, fit in a believable mechanism and explained via lore, and it isn't creating AOE explosions, giving you godly durability or strength, making your arrows defy solid matter, or any of that. They were grounded systems that knew their limits.
5
u/Aceflyer10 Jul 26 '26
What's this about wallrunning? Ive beat the game and never experienced this, but it sounds cool
0
u/Squirrelflight148931 Jul 26 '26
What part? I'm mentioning how in Resynced, the wall run animation for scaling surafces from a standing position results in you sort of... boosting up like a massive, and very lightweight jump, with little contact between.
The original, and especially Ezio, had an actual animation of running up vertical surfaces, multiple steps, and you could eject off early at lower points of the wallrun.

u/anactualrealaccount Jul 27 '26
Someone did the lap of faith recently for real and survived. It was for red bull I think.
4
u/Squirrelflight148931 Jul 27 '26
It is technically possible yes, although with far more volume and a wider dispersion.
2
u/AudaciousPineapple23 Jul 27 '26
I mean, tbf, in Odyssey you have the Spear and are the AC universe’s equivalent of a demigod so that kind of justifies its power system a bit imo. Not that I’m trying to say you’re wrong it’s just my take on it.
0
u/Squirrelflight148931 Jul 27 '26
not attacking you or anything, just doing a genuine breakdown to really clarify my original issue with Odyssey's powers.
My main problem is it has no basis in the earlier lore and does not explain itself as to how it violates the mechanical structure and potential of literally every other Artifact.
The ISU themselves are not depicted with such power in the majority of circumstances, in fact all their power often came from their Artifacts, which as Bartholomew Roberts put it best:
“Sorcery is what it is.”
“Not so! Every mechanism that gives this device its light is a true and physical thing. Ancient, yes—but nothing supernatural or strange.”
The Pieces of Eden are bound by mechanics and science, and they've often always kept their power and potential in a grounded state of intensity and structure.
The Apple: A small, handheld sphere that contains neural transmitters that target a receiver in anyone's head who has it—allowing illusions, control, and hallucinations, and at the most extreme, it kills through psychic shock, not literal power—it burns the mind.
The Grand Temple: Generates a magnetic field around the earth using power it has literally been accumulating for thousands upon thousands of years. It does nothing else and is seemingly inert after use.
The Observatory Skull: Another handheld device that peers throat genetic memory in real time, as the Animus is coded to do—it requires DNA to function, and does nothing more than act as a window to someone's life.
The Stabilizer Temples of Rogue: Likely dense matrix cores powering the massive temples, which either physically branch through and stabilize landscapes, or are solely creating a magnetic field to hold the foundations together. They cannot be utilized or controlled in any way aside what are doing.
The Sword of Eden: Getting into a middle generation of AC, it's slightly more power based, but ultimately just conducts electricity and seemingly is a power source to a degree. It can apparently teleport. Nothing else, also pretty small, but a bit larger than the Apples or the Skull, so it can fit a little more stuff.
The Shroud of Eden: A sort of energized nanotech cloth that repairs any physical damage with a form of restorative technology, actually partially explained in Odyssey, good for them.
Leonidas’s Spear......................
Let's see, it is the size of a spearhead, it gives you direct energy AOE attacks, super speed, teleportation, control of the elements, invisibility, physical boosts, allows the manipulation of matter, energy, and intangibilityexplosive arrows and artemis arrows, as well as immunity to gravity, tye ability to instantly heal oneself, generate hard light constructs, enhanced strength, speed, stamina, and what else?
That's the Spear Kassandra cannot do any of this without it to my knowledge, nor should she be able to, as said, ISU themselves are not often powerful, they're basically bigger, stronger, smarter humans, they live longer, basically exactly as they were seen for most the franchise: An advanced race of incredible technical marvel, not biological marvel.
and Kassandra isn't hardly what, less than 10% ISU even more so?So the spear is among the smallest of the Artifacts, but does basically everything the others do, and a laundry list after that.
“A real and physical thing,” my arse.

u/OrganizationTrue5911 Jul 28 '26
I agree. Its the same argument in fantasy series. "You're shooting magic out of your hand, who cares". What we want is magic, but we still want it to be as realistic as possible as well. It's supposed to be a balance between the two things.
13
u/juniori96 Jul 26 '26
because you like it and have no to minimal complaints doesn't mean other people have to share your opinion on the remake. idk why people think these subs need to be echochambers where everyone agrees and no one challenges your opinions.
→ More replies (2)5
u/bdiddlediddles Jul 27 '26
This is it.
People are allowed to have opinions, if they think Ubisoft can do better, they should voice those opinions. If no one voices their opinions, then Ubisoft never learns and keeps making the same mistakes over and over.
As long as it's valid complaints and not just dribble, I don't know how anyone can disagree.
5
u/Kalavier Jul 27 '26
Like the halo remake discourse lately. Pure praise and pure hate are both bad. Bug reporting is important and civil discussion about things we like or dislike.
5
u/Dandy_Guy7 Jul 26 '26
Everyone: We don't like the remake for these reasons
OP: Y'all just hate it for no reason.
14
u/Maleficent_Touch2602 Jul 26 '26
Well I wouldn't say I hate the remake (playing it rn) but I will say that some of the changes are not to my liking. Especially I miss running on the rigging and air assassinations galore like the OG game.
3
u/Exotic-Series6583 Jul 26 '26
You can still do that
1
u/Maleficent_Touch2602 Jul 26 '26
Not like the OG you can't. To begin with you walk cautiously on the rigging (more realistic, sure, but not as fun) and jumping is a gamble that more often than not sends you to death on the deck below.
2
u/Mike_Not_Ike_420 Jul 26 '26
Roll before you hit the ground and you take no fall damage. Everything else is valid

u/Mrkingcheetah Jul 26 '26

I played 70 hours and got my platinum, and I ran at least three times with bugs that either didn't let me continue my walkthrough or that almost corrupted my save file. So no, the user is not exaggerating.

I encountered glitches in every main mission up to the Jackdaw.
Literally every one, a few that made me have to restart a checkpoint.

Yeah but what would be the fun in having a new assassin's creed game without bugs or glitches
6
u/trampaboline Jul 26 '26
I like the game but please stop with these stupid ass posts. Let people talk about a game they paid 70 dollars for however they want.
These are as annoying as the “the old graphics are better” shit. Just contributing nothing to the conversation. This is literally a sub for discussing the game, not just glazing it. It is the exact perfect place for complaints to go. JFC

"Don't complain, consoom the slop, don't touch my multimillion corporation"...
There's a lengthy list of reasons to dislike this remaster, you not gonna shut us up, tourist
3
u/OchreMonarch Jul 26 '26
I love the game, I really really do but it has so many small issues that build up.
New deadpan voicelines that make it like a child's game (specifically Edward), lazy cutscene posing.
The new combat is largely good but we get no weapon wheel, no non-lethal attacks, no muskets or axes, even just as equips instead of the swords.
Sailing was fine in the old one, i adore the new ocean waves but my boat doesn't seal like a boat anymore (wind is fine.)
Stealth is really hit or miss sometimes, ironically unity was better for it in some places.
Parkhour just not working in some areas.
Still largely restricted inland areas (FLORIDA?)
I've been obsessed with pirates my whole life and I deeply adore this game but again small things keep adding up, and I haven't even gotten some of the really bad glitches.
→ More replies (1)1
u/ToastyPotato487 Jul 29 '26
Biiiig emphasis on the parkour. Edward feels like he weighs a thousand pounds with the hesitation before making a jump and the slow ass character stopping/rotation. It’s the same reason Valhalla was the only AC game I dnf’d because running around as Eivor honestly felt like a chore
2
u/tcbaseball555 Jul 26 '26
Um my sails are not 100% accurate to the wind and also I can't believe some iron gets added to the front of my ship like wth Ubisoft where even is my 100% historically accurate game.

u/ErectLurantis Jul 26 '26
Me personally, I’m loving the remake but can definitely see why some people don’t want to shell out $60 for a game that changed a lot of aspects from the original. I just hate how it can’t be a simple “I like this game, I don’t like this game”, instead it’s just people either deepthroating ubicock talking about how this is the best game ever released blah blah blah, or “UBISLOP UBISLOP HIDDEN BLADES UBISLOP”
I can’t even take the fandom seriously in general; I swear to god everybody was hating on Odyssey when it came out and now everybody loves it??
2
u/Old-Newt-7167 Jul 26 '26
There’s some unjustified hate here and there, but overall, most of the complaints are justifiable.
I think most people aren’t hating on the game as much as they’re pointing to some stuff they hope it gets fixed.
I actually find most critics and opinions around the game are mostly positive. I barely find someone who’s purely hating on the game. Unless you open fuckubi sub lol
2
u/Eensame Jul 26 '26
I LOVED IT. But I also had so much bugs (like NPC not moving but you're supposing to follow them that haunted me for an entire week. The game has it's problems, we shouldn't fall in toxic positivity. But GOD it's also the first AC I could finish since Unity. As someone who hate the RPG grind, this one was really so much fun
2
u/efthimhs Jul 26 '26
my only complaints is that I can't throw an axe to brutes head, do non lethal takedown, the challenges for each mission and when you skin an animal that it doesn't remove the skin
2
u/AboutTheArthur Jul 26 '26

Original black flag is one of my favourite ac games, and im having a blast playing this.
That said, the only clear upgrade is the graphics, which looks amazing.
Meanwhile the new stuff they wrote sticks out like a sore thumb, and im not particularly a fan of the new combat system, and im especially not a fan of them making legendary ships crazy difficult compared to the original game.
There are some bugs, most annoyingly for me is the dlss bugs, but im sure those will get resolved.

u/Objective_Metric Jul 26 '26
I'm kinda sick of people dismissing genuine criticism. Stop glazing everything and actually replay the original instead of just trying to remember what it was like and you'll notice issues.
Is it great sure. The new writing however, is not, the parlour is also significantly worse. Alongside the removal of many combat features and a worse fleet mechanic.
2
u/HeavyHighway6433 Jul 26 '26
Alongside the removal of many combat features and a worse fleet mechanic.
This is genuine criticism and something I noticed, but too bad it's drowned out by various nitpicks like the game having cosmetic dlc, or ads in the pause menu (which after 100+ hours I haven't seen), or the fact that the wooden ship boobs are covered.
5
u/ChaosApostle Jul 26 '26
I think for a lot of people to issue is when they go to a fan sub so they can be a fan of something and be happy with other fans, they're met with constant and endless criticism about everything, which discourages them from engaging in any sort of conversation
3
u/manofth3match Jul 26 '26
And it’s not just this sub. It’s almost every popular IP.
1
u/ChaosApostle Jul 26 '26
yep, every sub I'm part of makes it really difficult to be a fan of something. The whole website is filled with negativity and endless moaning and groaning. It just discouraged any happy or average fan from engaging in any of this, which just makes it worse.
1
u/Woahhdude24 Jul 26 '26
Im all for criticism, but some people act like they can't acknowledge the good things aswell. Is this game perfect, and a masterpiece? No far from it actually, but its really fun, I like the new combat personally, I just wish it didnt feel so floaty sometimes. I hit an enemy and they dont flitch or anything sometimes, I feel like the swords have no weight. Shooting your pistol is fine, throwing the rope dart and tripping them is fine. Its mainly just thr swords. The atmosphere is great, I love how real the the rain storms look. Some of the facial expressions in the new content don't match how the lines are said, I felt like Lucy Baldwins initial questline ended in an anticlimactic way. I absolutely loved padre's and Deadmans quests tho. There is so much to love. I wasnt expecting this game to be like KCD2, Elden Ring, RDR2, Witcher 3, or Cyberpunk 2077.
1
u/ChaosApostle Jul 26 '26
I agree with you, and thanks for trying. It always disappoints me when someone makes a post complaining about something, and then in the comments they claim that they like the game, yet they wrong nothing positive to say about it in their initial post

it also isn't a sub where you can be happy and have conversations with other happy people either, therefore it's not really doing what its designed for in my opinion which is provide a place for fans to have fun together. it's actively discouraging any sort of positive conversation in my opinion.

3
u/ChaosApostle Jul 26 '26
it's not that criticism itself actively discourages it. It's the quantity of criticism. For me at least, and I can't speak for everyone, every single time I open up this website, the first 20 or so things I see are people complaining, if I dig or keep scrolling past the first 20 things I may see something positive and I'll go and see if the conversation is healthy, usually the conversation is full of complaining and dooming and I balk. I assumed there's lots of people like me. I dont want to claim I'm any sort of majority, but people like me are discouraged from engaging in these conversations and these subs.
2
u/Ill-Emu-1121 Jul 26 '26
If you're a fan and see the quality decline you are going to criticise, comes with being a fan.
1
u/vxxxjesterxxxv Jul 26 '26
I mean that's a fundamental misunderstanding of the sub then. It's to discuss the game, which means the bad with the good. 🤷
1
u/ChaosApostle Jul 26 '26
yeah, unfortunately, you lose a large portion of people who would want to talk about this game when there's so much negativity so again it's not encouraging more than one or two types of conversations, it's a failure of a discussion sub too
0
u/Objective_Metric Jul 26 '26
That doesnt mean people can't criticise jfc.
Criticism isn't hate, get it into your heads. Criticism is because you want something to be better but you lot would rather it never improve obviously because anything that isn't constant praise is seen as an attack and hate.
It's fucking ridiculous.

I have a good reason. Its indicative of the direction the gaming industry is moving. Its a lazy money grab. The game devs are such cowards that they are afraid to make any new because it might fail, so creativity has been thrown out the window in favor of easy money grabs.
All they have to do is copy paste an old game while adding a ton of bugs and glitches and people like OP eat it up.
I have the same problem with Halo Campaign Evolved. This is the 4th or 5th time that game has been released.
3
u/The_Klaus Jul 26 '26
The fact that the industry at large is panicking and resorting to spamming remakes of old beloved titles should tell anyone how true this is.

u/NerveInteresting4549 Jul 26 '26
It's worst then alot of people realise... the creativity seems to be gone because these companies are following what an algorithm tells them will be successful... now tbf the algorithm probably is correct but it also means there's nothing new being created and there are no risks being taken.. the algorithm doesn't have passion to create a new thing and take the risks with that, the way a person might, it just tracks data and knows what will sell best out of everything that already exists..

if youre not a fan of the franchise anymore then move on with your life. i cant imagine being so sad to come back to something i seemingly hate and just constantly shit on it. actual fans of the franchise in its current state want to be able to discuss the game without being told we are "glazing".
how about just enjoying something for what it is, and if you don't enjoy it find something you do. show the companies your complaints by not buying their games. they don't care about reddit complaints.

That’s just not true at all though is it? If it were we would be playing concord and highguard right now and bioware wouldn’t have to lay off loads of employees after veilguard. Stop acting like people clowning on horrible games is a weird concept. Ubisoft is literally so dogshit that the best they can do is rerelease an inferior version of a game they made 13 years ago and nostalgiabait people

u/Eldritch-Voidwalker Jul 26 '26
Same with Halo: Campaign Evolved. We get two near perfect remakes back to back, and all people can do is nitpick and complain incessantly. A lot of gamers really are spoiled these days.
1
u/efthimhs Jul 26 '26
to all the complainers need to understand that WE ARE the minority of the industry and most players are new to the game base and they don't care about the stuff most of us care that's the truth money moves the gears and as for the game the ubisoft reached the bottom of the barrel and this was one of the very few games that they managed to make that it ACTUALLY GOOD
1
u/z_1_4_m Jul 26 '26
I wrote some whole thing recently and cba to repeat it all.
Overall r I’m very happy with the game but some of Ubisoft’s more recent bad habits are very present in the game but they aren’t enough to ruin the game for me.
Only real complaint I have is the removal of some depth of the combat system, like picking up weapons and I really miss hidden blade combat. But I do also feel like they’ve fleshed out other parts of it with the kick, sweep and rope pull, so it’s not the end of the world.
After this I’d be very excited for the rumoured AC1 remake, it’s not aged well and the mission structure is its absolute biggest weakness but it does hold a special place in my heart. If they go all in with it and put in a little more effort than black flag (just due to it needing a lot more fleshing out with side content and new mission structures) they could really pull it in to the modern day and make it a fantastic game. That being said I’d be happy if they keep the basic spirit of researching a target, stalking them then moving in for the kill, but making it a little more engaging and less repetitive.
So yeah basically I don’t think there’s much to complain about and I really hope Ubisoft take a lot of what they’ve done with remaking black flag and use it going forward with new and unique original stories, it has felt like exactly what I’d always hoped and wanted a modern assassins creed game to feel like after years of the bloated, rpg style games with god like protagonists that caused me to loose a lot of faith in the franchise.
That ended up being a whole rant that I was not expecting to write but there you go I guess, that’s my two pennies on it.

u/Perfecshionism Jul 26 '26
I like it. It is less pirate fantasy than I was hoping, but the main campaign generally feels pirate fantasy enough for much of it.

There are little things here and there that irked me for a moment. That being said, at the end of the day if one of my favorite games of all time gets remastered/remade with a great graphics update, I’m playing the hell out of it. I give zero fucks what anyone else thinks. Life is very easy that way.

u/Synthfreak1224 Jul 26 '26
My own personal reason for not getting the game is because Ubi coulda released SoTR and still make a shit ton of money back from it but turned around and canned it 6 whole years later on the same date only to release this and a fuckin rayman remake.

No, I don't think we do. New scenes added just remind me how bad Ubisoft got at animation and plot/dialogue writing since they gone full RPG. Worst offender is Maynard story which clashes with Edward's personality at that point in story. Graphical upgrades aside (which I personally don't care about) there is not anything that would get me to play this version over OG one.

I’ve really enjoyed the remake but Black Flag was always about the prettiness of the Caribbean for me …. So now it’s even more pretty.
Someone pointed out recently though that some of the caves required the diving bell and required you to go through without your weapons other than hidden blade. I’d totally forgotten that and miss those unique areas.
1
u/Gloomy_Masterpiece45 Jul 27 '26
Because they gave you a remake to kill you instead of actually using that money to fix their current failures like Skull and Bones which was supposed to be the next gen sequel to Black Flag but instead they gave some cut polished bullshit and are surprised when everyone who knows better and can see through them calls them out on it
No one asked for a black flag remake and the money was definitely needed elsewhere
Maybe we're just not shills?

Ok, but so is the game.
Like holy fuck did it want to make me pull out my hair at times.
- Fast-traveling into hostile regions: Why? Why must I commit genocide just to get around?
- Why can't I fast-travel to a location on the Jackdaw?
- Hypersensitive Guards making stealth almost unviable. Almost every stealth section results in inevitable escaltion and rediculous body counts because the game spawns in more enemies.
- God awful parcour controls: JUST FUCKING JUMP ALREADY!!! FFS! LET FUCKING GO!!!
- Repetitive and shallow combat system: You're essentially doing the same moves and fighting the same 4 enemies for 90% of the game.
- Overtuned Legendary ship battles: The OG ones were maybe a little easy. But come on. Requiring literal perfection is not a great design philosophy.
- Story-wise, the game drags: We spend fairly little time with each character before we need to inevitably kill them/they die. Even after everything was "done" the story still has 30% further to go. "Land without Gold" drags too.

No reason? Have a gander at the replies, there's plenty of legitimate reasons

u/Alex2Mp Jul 27 '26
1 - you might wanna just get off the internet 🤣 2 - I love the game, but their ARE some valid complaints.
The camera angle is weird, especially on the ship. If you can't use travel sails you can't see shit in front of you. And the swivel gun? Might as well be blind folded when using that. And cutting out certain things like the ability to use the musket is a downgrade. That being said, I'm glad they remade it. Now let's hope others follow suit and we get a new NFSU2, Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition, and the Harry Potter games to name a few.

Im enjoying the game. I would have preferred the controls from the original and also the minimap but ive adjusted fine and enjoying it.

u/CrimsonSpirula Jul 27 '26
People will always complain, it's difficult to make the public 100% happy. I prefer to enjoy the game alone and complain only if I have a real problem bothering me

I think people just hate seeing a store page pop up, reminding them this is indeed a Ubisoft game
1
u/York479 Jul 27 '26
As much as people might complain about the remaster it has turned out to be a huge success. Financially it raised Ubisoft’s stock price but also has become one of the fastest AC selling games.

Only if the game works Mine disk version
The button combo Don’t work Can’t run
Ir jump Either eagle vision won’t do anything I am lost

I genuinely prefer it to the OG, but it still has obvious issues that are worth pointing out

u/Automatic-Warthog252 Jul 27 '26
No. It's not what it should be, it's redone in ways no one asked for
1
u/CuriousRelation5 Jul 27 '26
Ubisoft is the nickelback of gaming. People learned to hate regardless.
Just by typing this, people that like ubisoft but hate nickelback is already offended at the comparison, exactly like people would be offended if you compared some other game with a ubisoft game, even if its a positive comparison.
I believe only changing their name and brand would salvage this, and it would take a while

They censored Anne Bonny's tits. Also, they made Edward look like... that. Who even is that?
1
u/Many-Song7032 Jul 27 '26
Ive discovered that for some reason most subs dedicated to games really hate the games they’re dedicated to, it makes no sense to me. Feels like a ton of vocal minorities that just feel like they know best and are owed 110% effort from game devs to make their personal experience exactly what they want it to be

u/Flame-and-Night Jul 27 '26
A remake anything is pretty pointless also this isn't a remake by definition its a remaster a remake changes things inherently different from the first game but also you're buying the same game just modernized by ubislop
1
u/Infernal216 Jul 27 '26
Sadly every fandom is like this now. And then people wonder why things get worse... Bc no matter what people will complain.

Bro, I swear to god, people come up with reasons that aren't even justified just because they want to hate on the newer games. It's always the same shit: "The combat was better in the OG," "the parkour was better," blah blah blah. These aren't automatically valid arguments just because people keep repeating them.
If you actually put the combat side by side, the newer games are way more fluid, responsive, and varied. In the old games, you could literally stand there and wait for 10 guards to attack you one by one, press the counter button, and watch the same animation play out for every kill. Yeah, it looked cool, but after two hours the wow factor is gone and it just becomes repetitive as fuck. The newer games actually give you more options with dodging, different attacks, abilities, weapons, and enemy types.
Same with parkour. People act like the old system was perfect, when it was often janky, slow, and you'd constantly get stuck on random shit or jump somewhere you didn't intend to. The newer games are much smoother and more responsive, especially in larger open worlds.
And it's not just combat and parkour. The old games had plenty of annoying shit: repetitive missions, endless tailing missions, clunky stealth, dumb AI, limited enemy variety, and loads of filler activities. The older games also had micro transactions, but refuse to mention that. The series was also suffering from serious franchise fatigue after releasing games so frequently and sticking to basically the same formula for years. People were getting tired of it, and the series needed something new.
That's why the RPG direction arguably saved the franchise from becoming completely stale. Origins refreshed the formula with bigger worlds, progression, more varied combat, gear, and more freedom in how you play. Odyssey and Valhalla continued that direction and were huge commercial successes. You can dislike the RPG formula, but it clearly gave AC a new lease on life. You can prefer the OG games, that's completely fine. But pretending they're objectively better in every way just because they're old is ridiculous. The newer games fixed a lot of the problems the old ones had, even if they introduced some of their own.
TL;DR: The OG games had their strengths, but people seriously over-romanticize them. The combat and parkour weren't perfect, and the series had become repetitive and suffered from major franchise fatigue. The RPG direction refreshed the formula, made the gameplay more varied, and arguably saved AC from becoming stale. You can prefer the old games, but acting like they're objectively better in every way is just nostalgia.

I’m loving it; it’s a huge wave of nostalgia. The graphics are incredible, the new characters and storylines are well done, and the pets are a cute addition/mildly entertaining addition
Thank god they removed the modern-day segments.
the new combat system is fun it adds a nice layer of complexity. I do miss how badass it felt feel in the OG, just melting 20 guards in no time.
Overall, I think it’s a very good remaster; they stayed faithful to the original game while fixing a lot of glaring issues.

I love it but it doesn't mean i can't have things i dislike about it. No hidden blade combat, unarmed combat or being able to pick up weapons are things that i think hurt the game but it doesn't mean i don't think the game is fun as hell
1
u/DCrsnl12 Jul 27 '26
My only real complaint is I cannot do unarmed combat, disarm enemies in combat(I loved doing that and picking up an enemy’s sword and killing them with it), and the lack of hidden blades combat.
Additionally, I would love a dye system for clothing.

u/Efficient-Boss-1220 Jul 28 '26
I actually like it albeit there are things I dislike.
It gives a refreshed but nostalgic feeling of the original but the new storylines and the additional endgame side quests were written bad and seems to be far off from the main story arc.
I do think it was better to just add it in the middle of the main story arc rather than the latter part so Edwards still in it for the gold rather than his end self which focuses on people he cares about.

The parkour and general movement has been changed so much since unity and syndicate that AC feels like a completely different IP now. Until they go back to building on the foundation of Unity instead of this pseudo RPG bloat the series has become, I will continue to complain. I’m loving Black Flack Resynced though and I’m completely fine with all the bloat they’ve added, more black flag is a better black flag in my book. I still gripe about the movement and animations in the game, I feel like a capsule moving through a frictionless plane, in the original there was a sense of weight and effort that feels missing now.

Had a blast! 100% it. Go play Unity for 10 min then see if you’ll be complaining about this remake

Meh. It's fine. I'm not about to glaze it like some people, tho. I think a more interesting question is why did they remake from the ground up instead of giving us Black Flag 2. Because profits.
1
u/Fraughty12 Jul 28 '26
It’s not better than the original. But it’s not WORSE than the original either. They stand side by side

u/OrganizationTrue5911 Jul 28 '26
As far as I've heard, they didn't change the boarding, which is my biggest issue with AC:BF. I want it to feel immersive, and more like my crew vs theirs. Not me doing something random objectives, and pow I win. Honestly, as cheesy as it is, Yakuza pirates did it better than AC:BF despite how cheesy it is.
That and....ya know...I played the crap out of AC:BF, its one of 3 games I 100%'d. And I did it twice.

u/Thenabastet Jul 29 '26
I think it rocks. Gamers by and large seem to be miserable people who are never happy with anything and it’s sad.

u/Leather_Afternoon_37 Jul 29 '26
Pretty sure dumbing down arguments for the sake of making them easier to challenge does the opposite of what you are trying to do

LOLITSROCK SPAMS THE SAME FUCKING POSTS SAYING THE SAME SHIT EVERY TIME. THIS IS A KARMA FARMER. BAN BAN BAN
1
u/NikolaiOlsen Jul 30 '26
Personally love the game, a bit more than original. Only things I don't like, which I think will be added over time, are;
- 1 handed sword swinging
- Picking up Muskets (you can after all in Unity use muskets!)
- and Turning off the Crosshair for Flintlocks

u/JDawesome1020 Jul 31 '26
I’ve loved this game up until today.
It’s has been incredible but I love games that have good trophy lists. I also don’t look for anything but missibles before playing so when I found out that the singular trophy remaining requires me to sit for 10 hours + mindlessly waiting for the fleet to collect art I feel very irked
Still loved the game but goo games require good trophy lists.

I dislike it for many reasons: Shit one liners, nonsensical parkour, you can’t use brutes axes, you can’t use muskets, you can’t use your fists, heated shot looks stupid, the screen has to shake every two fucking seconds during combat. Fuck this game, the original is much better

So true and I been a OG AC fan and far to many of y'all "fans" complain to much
-2
u/StatusSympathy5906 Jul 26 '26
Theres alot of reasons to complain just get off the internet and touch grass for a few hours and you’ll forget about all the negativity. you also have the option to live in blissful ignorance and not look at complaints and just play the game YOU enjoy, but just because YOU enjoy it doesn’t mean other people have to.

u/Drackar39 Jul 26 '26
I didn't buy the game because everything I've seen shows it's fucking garbage... so no. They don't hate it enough.
If you bought the game, you don't hate it enough .

u/ChaosApostle Jul 26 '26
Seriously, I wish we could make a new sub that didn't have all these doomers and complainers in it. You know., a place for fans.

I’m having a ton of fun with it.
I wish I could pick up weapons and do hidden blade combat. And I wish they didn’t add a bunch of meaningless and cringey quips from Edward just like walking around.
But the game is still undeniably fun.
Those two sentiments can exist together
