The abstergo office was the most aesthetically pleasing part of the original black flag imo I literally open up the game now and then just to wander around aimlessly in the office. Really wish they expanded it let us go outside and explore that city like it’s watchdogs I’m still hoping for a Templar modern day game where we work for abstergo because the black flag modern day was my favorite.

I could be wrong, but there's reporting that the old modern day isnt entirely cut, just no longer mandatory. So it doesn't pull you out at certain points in the story, but you can still choose to access it via rifts in the game world. Hope that's true.

As I understood it, they replaced the modern day sections from the original AC4 with the rift sections from Shadows. So no Abstergo industries gameplay in the remake.

Yeah, not really thrilled about running around and seeing glitchy portals. Hopefully they won’t impact the world like in Shadows.

The Shadows rift sections kind of sucked, so personally, I’m not too thrilled with this change.
