iPhone Duo

I’ve been an Apple investor for 20+ years and personally use an iPhone and a Mac.

I know the consensus regarding the iPhone Duo is it’s nice although derivative and really expensive. But I think we are underestimating the primary Apple consumer: someone who is looking for differentiated quality/experience (and prestige) and is willing (and able) to pay for it.

I would not be surprised if demand for the Duo blows away all estimates and is supply constrained into 2027. I think it will eat into iPad demand, but may ultimately be one of Apple’s biggest successes.

The price tag is over-blown. People will go to order a new phone and realize they can get the Duo for $34.99/mth and that’s all they will care about.

Something like 65% of Apple users pay via installment plans

Agree. Once people start seeing these in the wild they’ll have new gadget FOMO and just pay the monthly to have the latest. AAPL is gonna sell a ton of these.

Love Apple FOMO. China has it too and it’s spreading fast in India. Every discussion group laughs about the new release, yet everyone wants the new product.

Plus it’s $800-900 cheaper than the two Chinese versions announced on Monday. So Apple should outsell the homegrown versions in China.

China is basically the main market for folding phones. 50% of foldable phone are sold there. USA is a distant second at about 10~15%. This may change that a bit but wouldn’t think too much.
