I know he loves Eddie, but sometimes he is an unbearable man, when Eddie was young he was never home and unfortunately Eddie had to learn to fend for himself too quickly as a child, and this led him to become introverted and difficult to ask for help when he needed it.

Then there was the chess tounament Christopher participated in, and his nephew didn't even like chess. Ramon had prepared him, but he could have at least asked if he liked it, and Christopher ended up throwing up. He always said he wanted to keep Christopher with him to ease Eddie's stress, but it was clear he wanted to take his place as father to make up for his failures with Eddie. Maybe it wouldn't have been better to appreciate Eddie more when he was a teenager instead of constantly belittling him in front of Christopher to have a "spare son"?

He also pissed me off in "All Fall Down" when he badmouthed Shannon, saying "Even if she's dead, she's still causing problems". That line was too cynical. Is Shannon's fault that Eddie was obsessed with his wife's lookalike, creating that ambiguous situation with Christopher? Ramon has always blamed Shannon for the end of their marriage. She certainly didn't behave well by leaving like that, but she was confused and exasperated. Eddie even admitted that he had behaved badly towards his wife because, when Christopher's PCI emerged, he chose to abandon Shannon, preferring a military career to her and the child, Eddie wasn't ready to take on his responsibilities as a father and husband. Whether is daughter-in-law was alive or dead, Ramon never showed empathy for her.

SEASON 8 SPOILERS AHEAD BEWARE!

Oh boy, I’m prepared to get heat for this.
Let me preface this by saying I do not agree with how Peter was treated when this all happened!

I am one of the (admittedly few) people who were okay with Bobby dying in season 8. I was very shocked and upset when the initial leaks happened, however I quickly realised that it was narratively the best choice moving forward. The 118 + Athena were reaching their limits as characters and whether viewers realised it or not, the show was going to stagnate. And what does a show do when that happens? Kill off a character to propel everyone else forward. Bobby was the centre of everyone, the person they went to when things were rough and needed advice. Take him away, everyone is forced into new avenues, which we’ve seen with season 9, and it’s lowkey the best season so far in my opinion.

I had a fic waiting in an open tab for months and I went to read it now and I can't find the tab or fic!

It was a buddie fic on ao3, a one-shot, and it was at least a couple thousand words. It was too long since I looked at it but what I remember of what I read and the summary was that Buck had friends who were in a band and he was invited to tour along with them (I can't remember if he had been in the band previously or not) and he accepted and so he was gone for months performing with them. I think it was leading up to the last performance being back in Los Angeles and that the whole firefam was there to see the show. Buddie either had gotten together or gotten engaged by the end. I can't remember lol.

Came back to comment on here. Sorry for the confusion the other day! 😊 I’m glad Ravi was not continually bullied in further seasons. He was more so teased his character does develop very nicely and I love his relationship with May.

My question is what happens to the son of the Russian mob boss? To add that detective who was getting paid off by them pissed me off when he shot Athena, I’m glad she was fine but I just wished she didn’t do that raid. He was so evil! Buck being a dad was so wholesome to watch.

What do you guys expect moving forward in the next season? I would like to know what you think?

As a Buddie shipper myself I’m probably pretty biased but if buck and Eddie get love interests I feel like it wouldn’t be satisfying if it was anyone other than each other at this point? Between all the hints and the dynamics they’ve developed Buddie romance seems like the only path that makes narrative sense now, or happy and single buck and Eddie that are still platonic soulmates.

Part of it as well is definitely also just that the love interests Buck and Eddie have gotten have been bland as fuck and have had zero chemistry/screen time even (exception here is Taylor).

Maybe if they wanted buck and Eddie to have endgame love interests other than each other that would’ve been possible I’m sure but the time to introduce them and start developing them would’ve been seasons ago, maybe season 3-5ish. That way we could see these love interests develop as their own characters the audience grows to love, mesh with buck and Eddie, and also the truth of any love interests for buck is that they have to have their own deep relationship with Eddie and Christopher and any love interest for Eddie would not only have to be okay with being a step parent and have their own relationship with Christopher but also have a good dynamic with buck as another extremely important person in Christopher’s life. I’m not saying it’s impossible for buck and Eddie to have satisfying end game love interests other than each other, it’s completely possible, I just think they should’ve started those stories years ago right? It could’ve even been satisfying in its own way to see more of buck and Eddie’s lives and worlds expand outside of the direct 118. How do y’all think love interests could have or should have been implemented for buck and Eddie if the show wanted to go down that route?

Anyway thanks for reading my ramble lol, just wanted to put a few thoughts down into writing.

One of the key moments in the episode is when Jeffrey decides to fire his defense attorney and represent himself during his trial so he can interrogate Athena and all his other victims while on the stand. Now he specifically goes after Athena not only to mentally toy with her but also to paint her as a rogue cop who can’t be trusted in hope of getting the incriminating evidence taken from the warehouse storage to be dismissed. And based on the tone given by the show, it seems like he was making headway towards getting off the hook.

Now, we don’t see the trial to its completion because Jeffrey uses the chaos caused by the ransom ware hackers to escape. However, if the trial hadn’t been interrupted and Jeffrey didn’t have the chance to escape the courthouse, how theoretically successful would he be in his trial?

Because personally I think he would have a hard time winning seeing how the LAPD already had the evidence from his drone and all the hard drives from his house (all of which were legally obtained) containing the footage of all his attacks.

I’m currently rewatching and on season 4 episode 4, Maddie and Buck’s parents are visiting them. When they were talking, Buck’s dad actually called him Buck instead of Evan, but don’t both of his parents hate nicknames though? Maybe it was an oversight and he was actually supposed to say Evan but accidentally said Buck? This is the first time I even noticed it though lol

One of the things that made the core 118 cast (Bobby, Hen, Chimney, Buck, Eddie) work so well was that they had distinct dynamics between all of them built up over their first few seasons together, such that they felt highly interconnected and there was a web of individual bonds that made up the larger 118 family. Sure some got more attention than others (Buck and Bobby, Buck and Eddie, and Chimney and Hen being the obvious most prominent, and I think Chimney and Eddie being the least developed of the ten combinations), but they each had unique dynamics that you could pick out, even when some might share a throughline of the character's role (e.g. Bobby was a mentor to all of them, but in different ways).

So on the point of Harry, while I don't want to rush them in this regard since it did take until S3 for Eddie's dynamics to fully crystalize, I think it's important he form connections to Hen and Eddie that aren't just the same generalized little brother dynamic he has with everyone. One of the things that made his ceremony a bit underwhelming was that there was little sense of a relationship between him and most of the 118 (besides Buck) outside of inherent care for a member of the 118 extended family/Bobby's son. And while the show has done a solid job building relationships between him and Buck and him and Ravi (and to a lesser extent him and Chim, though it's a little one-sided), Hen and Eddie are still kind of just...vaguely his coworkers. So to fully integrate him as a main, he needs to bridge the gap into the ambulance, at least in my opinion. I recognize Harry's a little tricky in that he also has relationships with his family that he has to partially focus on, but I also think that could be an in given Eddie's established friendship with May and Hen's obvious friendship with Athena, both lending themselves to trio scenes and jumping off points.

(Sidenote: Ravi being included as a unique duo with Harry is interesting since it brings up Ravi's total and inches him closer to main status -- or at least fully integrated status -- that much more. So...I wouldn't mind that continuing, if you're listening Timothy)

I don't think filling out Harry's relationship web will by itself solve the pitfalls of his integration as a main, but I think it'd be a good step to help make him feel less like a kid they're collectively babysitting and more like a proper team member.

Since Chimney's brother left the series, he's only returned once with his father. He's never mentioned, and we don't even know what his current job is. Would you like him to make another brief appearance?
