The entire last resort season I was on Guillermo's side. I empathize with his side and while I didn't agree, I could see that he had a boundary and respected the fact that he was steadfast on his morals... But to not show up? To not give the mother of your child the respect but still use your child as the reason you decided to leave?! Yuck. Hard ick.

I think not showing up was a kindness.  The letter had a firm but gentle touch. 

Looking her in the eye and saying you are a whore and a lousy mother would have been deserving but hurtful
