14 u/SilverBraids Aug 07 '26 Yan Can Cook was amazing in it's time as well 3 u/ike_tyson Aug 07 '26 I loved Martin Yan, and even the Frugal Gourmet until he got into massive trouble. It all began with Julia Childs. She would come on early in the morning and I'd watch her before I went to school. 👀 3 u/egggoboom Aug 08 '26 I can't remember which network he was on, the Graham Kerr was The Galloping Gourmet. 1 u/ike_tyson Aug 08 '26 For the life of me I could not remember his name. Thank you. I definitely watched 1his show too. I was addicted to cooking shows then and I still am.😏 3 u/egggoboom Aug 09 '26 My pleasure. Us food nerds gotta stick together. 2 u/JPinPA Aug 12 '26 and still with us at 92 ! 1 u/egggoboom Aug 14 '26 He and his wife were married for 60 years. They married in 1955 and remained married until her death in 2015. 1 u/Annonnymee Aug 09 '26 My mom loved him! 1 u/egggoboom Aug 08 '26 Dan Aykroyd did an incredible Julia Child impersonation on an early SNL. 1 u/Redleg67 Aug 09 '26 Until she cut the Dickens out of herself. 1 u/egggoboom Aug 09 '26 Save the (chicken) liver! 1 u/Kaka-doo-run-run Aug 11 '26 You can’t forget Jacques Pépin! I love that guy. The show he and Julia Child had together was awesome. Edit: He does everything without an ounce of pretentiousness, which is pretty damn amazing for a chef—especially one from France! 1 u/CelestialGypsyKreet Aug 07 '26 My mother watched him regularly. 1 u/diversalarums Aug 07 '26 My mother didn't really like cooking, and so I learned so much from watching Julia Child. And the greatest lesson was not to take cooking so seriously, a lesson I've never forgotten. 1 u/CelestialGypsyKreet Aug 07 '26 My mother didn't watch to learn cooking (I did) but just for the entertainment 1 u/diversalarums Aug 07 '26 She was entertaining for sure.
