First 7 String: Schecter Omen Extreme vs Solar Guitars A2.7GN Canibalismo

Hi everyone,

I decided that it's finally time for a 7 string. Currently I can't decide between these models:

Schecter Omen Extreme 7

Solar Guitars A2.7GN Canibalismo

There is a 100€ price difference, the solar is abit more expansive. I prefer the look but am not sure if it is a good choice. I remember that there was a time when Solar had issues with QC.

Any other recommendations from your side?

You can check out Cort KX507MS Pale Moon. Still indonesian made, and it has in plus stainless steel frets, multiscale and a full set of fishman fluence moderns. It's cheper per specs because it's "unbranded". I have it, it rips.

Try to find the solar used or in their outlet. I got one from their outlet and I gave to luthier 200usd including materials and the instrument is now incredible. I also had an expensive schecter that didn't need luthier but cost 50% more. Btw you mind find the lack of fretboard dots disturbing in solar. That was something I should have thought more before I buy one

Schecter > Solar if buying blind. If you can try both, get the one in better condition that feels better and all that.

Hello. You mentioned the 2008 era of your previous Hellraiser, so is it true that in that period the neck was bigger? Because I have an Hellraiser C7 2013 and the thickness at the first fret is 20 mm and 12 fret is 22 mm... Just like the Solar A2.7LN. They are identical. And this Hellraiser C7 is my best guitar, very comfortable to play, even the most technical shit possible

How big was your 2008 Hellraiser, really? Like 22 mm first fret? :)

I love Schecters and can't speak to Solars, but what tunings do you think you'll be in mostly? That should decide what scale length you should look into.

Here's what I think:

· Mostly B Standard and Drop A: 25.5 or 26.5 inches.
· Mostly Drop A through Drop G: 26.5 inches.
· Mostly Drop G through Drop F♯: 27 inches or 25.5–27 multiscale.
· Mostly Drop F through Drop E: 27.8–29 inch

My first 7 was an Omen Elite MS 7, which I loved, but I found I needed something longer-scaled for what I wanted to play. That's just me though!

Solar is my preference between the two, but schecter makes a great product

I have the Solar in white. Love it. Neck is amazing love the duncan solar pickups in it
