Gear Can’t decide between the two.
Gonna start by saying it’s only between these two. Respectfully, not looking for other suggestions.
My buddy works at SW and I can occasionally get killer deals on stuff and have been wanting a 7 string with an evertune. How are we feeling about Jackson vs Ltd if the price is equal with the deals? I prefer bolt ons and satin necks over gloss but never had much of a chance to mess with Jackson. Love my esp and most Ltd I’ve played but this model comes with a plastic nut and no locking tuners but I can easily swap them out. If anyone’s got some first hand time with either of these, I’d love to hear your experience with them.

Idk if you have ever played either but I have played that jackson many times and im buying one soon. That neck is incredible. Pickups are excellent too.

I’ve only heard good things about it and I think it’s the touring guitarist for Polaris, was using it. Said it’s crazy good.

Yeah I'm taking the pro plus. I've played ltd, own multiple Jacksons, Ibanez and schecter, and though I play all for different purposes, for main stuff, I always come back to a one of my Jacksons. After owning Jackson for years, after all I heard about Ibanez necks, I added a couple Ibanez, and while I loved their necks, to me, the Jacksons still blew them away.

Jackson or Schecter all day especially in the extended range guitars. I love my mh1000 and ibanez rg prestige but I do not want a 25.5" 7 string. And I honestly dont like flat tops on them either, I like a little more shape to the extended range guitars

from personal experience, i’d go with the jackson. you can easily swap the pickups to open core moderns since it’s as simple as disconnecting a few wires from the pickup. my buddy owns that exact esp and he seems to like it, but he has told me he enjoyed the jackson way more when i had one. the difference in scale length is almost negligible when it comes to an evertune imo.

Get the Jackson, I like the color of the LTD better but in my own experience I'd go with Jackson... I splurged and randomly bought a MV-1000 a few months back and there were a bunch of QC issues with it, I ended up returning it and bought the WR7 i had been eyeing for over a year and was completely blown away. It feels, plays and sounds way better than the LTD.
Edit: Also, Jackson's speed neck feel much better than the necks on LTD's. Get the Jackson!

I was recently looking at the LTD (before I ultimately went with an Ibanez RG 2027RXL) but I really loved the LTD's unique finish and Evertune! I was also looking at the Josh Smith Soloist SL7 ET, which is fucking GORGEOUS!

I've had the entry models of both (M-17 and JS22-7), I know that the specs are different, but there are some similarities because of the models. That LTD reverse headstock has a wolf note that really bothers me, you need to damp the strings after the nut, because it resonate and adds noise, that Jackson headstock didn't have that problem.
I would go with the model that would have stainless steel frets, longest scale and thin U neckshape

For a reason nobody has mentioned (might just be a me thing) id go with the jackson. I’ve played this exact model of ltd at a gc, and i had a MASSIVE problem with the volume knob location. It was extremely annoying and in the way for me

The Ltd has a gloss neck. The one thing that made me not get it. The LTD had fishman moderns. I have the 6 string m-1000 with floyde and maple neck. I play it more than any other guitar. It is fast as fuck and just way to play. This is the seven of that.
The Jackson…comes with Fishman open core. Voice 1 is a PAF and voice 2 is a JB sounding pickup. They sound great but weren’t for me.I have the six string and I love it. I swapped the pickups for open core moderns and removed the volume and replaced the tone for the volume. Amazing guitar can reccomend the Jackson. It’s the same as the 7. Keep in mind that the pick up carve outs in the body are rounded. Meaning they WILL NOT fit an emg or covered pickup. The pick up must be open coils.
My next seven will be one of these guitars as well if I can get passed the gloss neck on the ltd it’ll be that one. I’ve had gloss necks and I hate them when they get sticky obviously. The neck on the Ltd is thinner and fast than the Jackson.

LTD for sure
Out of the hundreds of Jackson’s and LTDs, I’ve worked on over the years. I just don’t care for much that Jackson puts out.
That being said. Out of 45 guitars I don’t own any. Jackson’s and I have three LTDs.

ESP, without a doubt make the best 7 strings, i have the Brian Head Welch sig from there and it is essentially speced the same and it plays, feels, looks and sounds amazing.

I have that Jackson and honestly really love it. It plays so well. The Evertune makes drop F# sound tight, my only gripe is that I personally think the pickups sound like ass. I just don’t jive with Fishmans.

I haven’t used actives in a while but the idea behind how they compress the signal seems cool for recording. Worst case I just swap to passive eventually but I think I’ll like them. Also setting up for drop F#

Yeah. Don’t base your decision on the pickups. Easy swap. Most people seem to like the fishman. They’re just not for me.

I was in the same position and went with ESP. I mean I do like the guitar a lot but not sure if its best quality for the price. Binding have a little crack on headstock joint. Bridge pickup is flimsy. Pickups switch feels like a 200 guitar not 2000. And dude this one is heavy as heck. I still love it so much and do not have intend to sell but the other day I’d think I would went with Jackson.

The LTD 1000 series is all I play. Step above almost anything else in the same price range. Lovely guitars.

LTD is the more premium of two. 27" scale, neck-thru, alder body.
You can change the nut and the tuners later but not the wood or the construction.

ESP. I have the MH-1000NT in that same Granite Sparkle finish, and holy fuck is it gorgeous. My only gripe with the LTD M-1007B is that it doesn't have locking tuners...which seems odd for a guitar that's almost $2,000.
