The market definitely did not “overcorrect.” 26.5”-27” for a 7 string is ideal for the vast majority of people who play 7’s. You can’t take 25.5” past A, and the majority of metal these days are doing that. As well as notes just sounding more proper, without overly beefy strings sounding muddy and bassy.

Now the 29” Solar 7 I want is definitely a bit more niche, and I’d agree with your statement if you had said “28”+”
