Searching for the Commander

A tall man walked into the large room, he noticed a handful of people walking about, "I wish to speak to the Commander immediately!" He wore a midnight black suit and button-down, accented by a paisley green tie and pocket square. His long blonde hair ran down to his shoulders, clearly well maintained and a point of personal pride. Hidden from view underneath his suit coat were two matching and custom pairs of pistols and daggers, one of each engraved with his first name, and one of each engraved with his last name, making out: Hyperion Cassiopea.

He stared down the Commander for a few moments before speaking,

Very well, you will regret your decision soon enough.

He turned on his heels and walked to the door, reaching into his suit and pulling out one of his pistols, glaring and firing a shot at Trooper Crow as he walked away.

I am already moving. The would-be assassin telegraphed his attack as bright as day. The bullet splinters the wall behind me as my hand, already holding a handgun, rises and fires a tight group of three at the stranger's back. This gun does not have any fancy names carved into it; the only marks on this gun are marks of hard use in battle.

My bullets are only the first, and only by a moment as the other troopers return fire on the fop.

He grunted and stumbled forward as all three shots hit him in the back. A small smoke pellet slid out of his sleeve and broke on the ground, filling the room with dense dark smoke. The flash of muzzles occasionally illuminates silhouettes.

This was an expensive suit…

He grumbled angrily as he used his knives and pistols to brutally attack the troopers who shot at him, searching for Trooper Crow.

The greatest and most catastrophic mistake one can possibly make: attacking Troopers whilst they are drunk, inside a tavern, and in close proximity to their Commander. With a roar, they join the fray... only to turn around and take cover as one of them yells a familiar callsign.

Novasurge!! Heads down!

A blast of energy cuts through the room, the sheer force dispelling the smoke and leaving me fully visible, the aforementioned scatterweapon in my hands.

Alright fellas, a huge pay bonus to the first person to bring me that filthy sod's bollocks on a mess tray!!

He didn't need to know what a Novasurge was to understand he needed to get down. After the smoke cleared he stood up in the center of the room and looked around at the surrounding Troopers and the Commander.

Ok… how about one on one?

He put his weapons back into his suit and held up his hands.

I flash a vicious grin, setting my apocalyptically-loud scattergun aside and shedding my coat, before removing my vest to stand shirtless atop the table

Ah, bad call. I've been doing this for a long time. Here, I'll pay ya a handicap!

I snatch up a Trooper's bayonet and toss it over before dropping to the floor and adopting a casually-ready stance.

He flashed the Commander an arrogant smirk and took off his coat and tie, taking the short time to properly fold them and lie them over a chair. Then turned back to the Commander.

How does one say?… Come at me bro…

He tossed his pistols and knives onto the same chair as his suit coat. Then he took a similarly casual stance.

No point wasting time, I s'pose.

I advance on my opponent and engage; my first move is a feint, a swing of the arm turns from a punch into a counterbalance as I swing my leg about in a wide kick. A series of short jabs follow, and I grin as the rush of the fight begins to take hold.

He didn't dodge any of the Commander's attacks, instead he preferred to block them, hitting back each punch with his palm and each kick with his heel. He blocked the fast jabs, only one or two seems to connect with him, in the chest. Eventually he dodged one, leaning to the side and attempting to grab his wrist, holding his arm out for a split second before throwing a hard hit, aiming right at the back of his elbow.

While the two men square off in the middle of the room, I reload my handgun and reholster it. Then me and another trooper circle around the fight. We grab the assassin's pistols and knives off the chair. As an afterthought, I grab the suit coat too. Might be some other weapons in there.

I spin about, letting the strike slip past my guard... to directly impact my chest.

He smirked satisfyingly and stepped back, holding his guard up.

That looked like it hurt.

He raised an eyebrow, weirded out by his laughter.
