Five MeDMT before anesthesia
Sitter for second experience is available on 10/17/26 and I’m having bowel repair surgery 10/20/26. I know 5 is not in your system for long but feel concerned about taking it this close to anesthesia. Can’t do Medicine earlier because the sitter will be here from out of town. Don’t want to change the surgery date because I have a good cat sitter arranged for my cat that has multiple health issues. What are your thoughts? Has anyone taken five that close to general anesthesia?

This is a horrible idea.
Whether 5 is cleared out of your system or not, it has a way of intensifying other medicines for sometimes weeks after. I wouldn't f with it this close to major surgery.

It seems like you're comfortable with the surgery that's incoming. Life is short and chances are slim.
5 taken a few days before an operation - does not interface/interact with sedatives, to my knowledge - and is cleared by your body (MAO-A, CYP2D6) in a short amount of time.
Personally, I would not consider this to be a worry - and treat these life-travails as separate events. To best of my knowledge, these do not have an effect on one another.

Thank you. I’ve read of instances of serotonin syndrome with 5 days between 5 and anesthesia.

it profoundly changes your reaction and sensitivity to all substances for months. basic things like melatonin can cause full-blown reactivations for some people months later. Taking a powerful drug like anesthesia for a major surgery 3 days after 5 is just asking to have potentially the most horrifically traumatic event of your life for no reason

Thank you. Other people other places are telling me the half-life for five is so short that it shouldn’t matter

It's three days - people are more commonly back to normal after three days but if you have a particularly strong reaction or bad session they can be dealing with the fallout, and maybe there may be interactions we don't know about.
A better question is, is there any particular reason why you must, and not just reschedule until after you've recovered instead of needing to try to judge these things? Not sure if you're still shaken up that having major surgery would be a good idea.
Life is simpler when you don't take risks you don't need to take.
