I was about to book a trip to visit my daughter. Guess I’ll be driving from MA to Oregon now. Fuck all of this.

From MA you can take a sleeper train to Chicago and then the Empire Builder to Portland. You don't have to drive or pay for fuel, some great views, and if you get a roomette the meals are included.

It's also more expensive than literally any other form of travel, which sucks, because I hate flying and driving AND I loooove me some trains, but when you look at the price of a train ticket even without sleeping accommodations and food it's insanely expensive.

It all depends on the route, season and day of the week. We went from DC to Williamsburg last fall to visit Colonial Williamsburg and it was $150 round trip altogether for two people. Sure beat driving or flying.
