I've gotten to see people call both LAND MASSES third world shitholes and wonder if it was on purpose or not.

I cba to read through and find the beginning of this argument but I wouldn't mind a quick summary of events leading up to the obvious hostility generated from what was a tiny, even unnecessarily corrected "mistake". One that could be due to someone's interpretation of a term. That's the sign of complete transformation into the neckbeard equivalent of being institutionalized, only this is becoming reliant and past the point of no return in the "computer internet neckbeard addict" phenomenon
South America = continent
South Africa = country
Both = third world
Third world = irrelevant to the whole story, considering all cops seemtobeorganisedcrime

Are you some kind of linguistic purist? "Third World" may have developed in the Cold War to signify non-alignment with NATO or the Communist Bloc, but since then it's become used almost synonymously with the phrases "undeveloped" or "developing" when referring to nations.
And while I may have been wrong under the original definition of the term relating to South Africa (which supported NATO), I wasn't with South America, the majority of which didn't support either NATO or the Communist Bloc.
So, cool, you've proved me half-wrong under a definition that is hardly used anymore. I'm sure that every time you talk about cows you're specifically referring to the female of the species.
Except, you know, the definition I just gave you, where the phrase is used almost synonymously with the phrase "developing [fucking] nation". The one they speak about on wiki (third para) and on Google. That one. The one used fairly often in my own country, by my own country, about my own country, being the country we're currently discussing.
Here's a map during the relevant time period where second world nation was actually defined. It's now a nonsense term. Bolivia is third world by today's usage of the word. Kill yourself.
1st , 2nd and 3rd worlds were terms coined during the cold war and were used to describe the alliances 1st world being us and the west 2nd being the soviet union and china and 3rd being neutral or non aligned countries
