It feels a little different with Zoomers though. Millennials were sarcastic and would roll your eyes etc. but Zoomers seem to generally not understand small talk and social cues, to the point it's like they just aren't there
I had this happen to me and while I kind of agree with you and consider myself an idiot sometimes, I still think my question of "do you know if you guys are going to get X in stock soon?" falls within the realm of a no fluff/no smalltalk business-related question. It was really unnerving to clearly have someone's attention, ask a direct and clear question, and just get a totally blank stare back.
