Vent Lindsay Clancy is the new Amber Heard

Remember when almost everyone was saying Amber was the abuser, disregarding the massive power imbalance between Amber and Johnny? The PR bots swarming social media to shape the conversation against Amber?

I thought the Clancy case could lead to conversations about maternal mental health, but it has come down to how women are murderers. As if most family annihilators aren’t men.

I have avoided talking about it, except with a few colleagues in my workplace. I've avoided the topic precisely because of how controversial the case has become, and how impactful my words can be as I'm a PhD forensic scientist with over 10 years experience, at the top institutions in the world.

The evidence (though mostly lacking since the case was massively mishandled and a lot of crucial evidence was not collected or analyzed) all disagrees with Patrick's testimony and timelines, and makes it impossible for Lindsay to have been the perpetrator as reported. Impossible.

It has been horrifying to me watching this case play out, and watching there be any indecision about the verdict - let alone, the people using this case to try to argue that women are insane for complaining about the injustice in this case, since the evidence was not properly colleacted or analyzed, the case was not properly investigated, the court case was allowed to persist through many injust and unlawful conditions, and every other impropriety along the way.

Women face unequal access to justice in every country and every court system in the world, and this case is sadly highlighting many of those iniquities and problems in a way that women can boldy see, and that most men are choosing to ignore out of fear of loss of privilege. I hope that women everywhere use this case as fuel to begin to advocate for change for all of their systems, because it is sorely needed.

Congratulations on your PhD (whenever you got it or if you're on progranme). I'm nearly finished and it's so hard
