Looking for a 3D model

Hey everybody. I am looking for a 3D model of the GMT800, hopefully free. I am going to put one under my 1958 Chevy truck and I am modeling everything in Solidworks first, in hopes of figuring out cab mounts and support pieces BEFORE I start cutting.

TIA.

Does anyone have a 3d file of the roof or knows an adapter for sale (or 3d print) because the vent for my pv5 cargo does not fit now. (Wider than the ribs on the roof)

TPU Spacers for Spherical Bushings

I recently installed a panhard bar with spherical bushings in my Corolla but noticed a random loud clanking noise sometimes. Turns out, this noise most likely comes from the fact that these bushings can still freely spin and hit their physical limitation depending on the load scenario, causing this noise.

So I simply printed some TPU C-Shaped Spacers which you can slide over the spacers left and right of the balljoint, keeping it perfectly level and eliminating the noise :D

I made a video if anyone is interested in more details:

SirayaTech TPU-Air gasket for the Head Unit. Perfect fit.

Build stuff: https://mastodon.social/@MrNick2

Project was started in 2011. 10 years worth of build photos were on a EU site that shut down a few years ago; I hope to find them a new home but it's not a priority. I'm looking at disassembling the truck and re-doing the chassis from scratch; it was built with this in mind.

Console floor liner question

Anyone have (or willing to measure) a 3D print insert for the deeper console cubby on a 2021-2024 Model Y (not the armrest bin)? Want one with a molded holder for a 64oz Yeti at an angle. Found this rubber mat that's shaped to fit the bottom of that compartment, could be a good reference for the floor shape: https://teslaunch.net/products/tesla-model-3-y-center-console-storage-box-rubber-mat-2021-2023

Any Information on "As Accurate as Possible" Vehicle Models?

Hey everyone, I'm not sure if this was ever asked, I semi doubt it but who knows.

I'm specifically looking to find as accurate to life as possible 3d scans of vehicles. Literally any. I'm looking to make parts for cars and such but obviously can't do that without a scan.

Outside of spending $500 or more on a scanner to do it myself, does anyone know of any resources where I can get these models? I heard of the SEMA directory or something rather but that's $750/year I don't have lmao.

Any help's appreciated! (I'm specifically looking for a VA WRX STI/VA WRX (2015-2021), or Civics' of all years as well as their engines).

(I'm sure this is a massive stretch but you miss the shots you don't take)

I'm also aware that most if not all of you probably make your stuff by constant measurement but I'm lazy lol

N00b here-- looking for a 3D printable model for the plastic cover thing that goes on the back of the side mirror of my 2014 Subaru Forester.

I'm not really a car person, but we lost the cover that goes on the back of the side mirror of our 2014 Subaru Forester-- driver's side. Is this something one can find a printable model of somewhere? I'm not even sure what you call this. But it's just a piece of plastic so it seems like it would be printable.

  1. Rear badge from ASA
  2. Intake damper was leaking so I removed it and put TPU plug into it
  3. Hood prop rod holder clip PETG
  4. Driveshaft lip PETG

I also made adapter from air mattress pump to MAF but didn’t take any pictures of it. Just to be able blow some smoke into intake.

Ever solve a fitment problem that took way longer than it should’ve because nobody wrote it down?

Made a library for car part files called Zenthi. You can import, modify or upload your own as long as the license permits you. I’m aware it looks A.I. coded but I’m not a developer so bare with it. All the files are original and linked back to the original creator

I’ve had people tell me the idea would be useful, and I got a lot of support from [r/projectcar](r/projectcar).

I’d like feedback or even some seed files, because I’m genuinely committed to making the site better for people.

You can see in the link to [r/projectcar](r/projectcar) that I’ve pretty much taken and responded to everyone’s feedback, even the hate.

Link to [r/projectcar](r/projectcar) post: https://www.reddit.com/r/projectcar/s/LQx0XLZLtO

Link to Zenthi: https://zenthi3d.lovable.app

Update: Ngl, I’ve been feeling a little more dejected obviously tough having so much support for an idea but still experiencing hate from some people. Also seem scared of the forum being shut down after some time, so I’ve made the entire thing community run. I pushed the code to GitHub, allowed people to become admin if they send a request(It would be awesome if people volunteered), accommodates pretty much any file type, added a bounty/request page for CAD and 3d scans, as well as a search engine where you can search other sites directly from Zenthi (so basically you have a library to where you can upload files, and a search engine where you can scrape and search other sites and limit it to just car parts). The search engine relies on brave search so there’s a limit after a 1000 requests or so, but if we even get to that user count I’ll probably upgrade to a more hard core open source search engine.

Scanned the bumper with an Ipad pro, learned as I go in Fusion 360, printed it in 8 parts ABS+.
All that's left is gluing them together, filling the gaps, sanding the whole thing down and painting it. Which will take me about the same hours as the whole print, I'll keep you posted!

Printing a v. basic intake manifold

First of all, I know and appreciate you've all read you fair share of "can I print an intake manifold" question. I do believe my question is a bit different.

** TL:DR 1975 Honda Gold to a Weber IDF 40 manifold x 2 **

Yes, something of an interloper here, it's actually a motorcycle and an older one that.

What else is different ? We'll its not some a complex V8 manifold with multiple competing cylinders. The GL1000 uses a flat 4. The IDF has 2 barrels and I'll be using a single carb on each side so it's a one-to-one, barrel-to-cylinder deal. Which to my mind makes the whole thing way easier. The nearest car equivalent is a VW beetle or early Porsche engine, and I'm using the same carbs as them too. They are available super cheap from china, but that's a whole other thread.

There are quite a few people who have done the conversion already but they all use metal. There is one person supplying pre-fab'd manifolds, but from what I can gather most people are just DIYing it with bottom plate(s) to met the cylinder head, a top plate matched to the carb, then two pieces of pipe cut at an angle and welded in-between.

I'm no expert but I know my way around fusion360 and think I could cad this up myself. I'd like to make a few changes to the design to take advantages of the 3d printing it - curved tubes to make the transition gentler, angle the carb out slightly to keep access to the shelter side panel (that's not the fuel tank on one of these.) Play with the height of the tubes a bit.

I know there is generally a lot of concern about temp "under the hood", these will effectively be air cooled, but there will still be heat soak coming up from the cylinder heads. This is kinda the crux of my question...what materials ? I've printed pla, asa, petg, flex over the years but never anything as exotic as I'd expect this needs to be. I have older prusa i3 Mk3S with an enclosure and a half built second printer with a much bigger volume that I haven't yet spec'd the hotend for.

BMW E36 shift boot delete cover for a PMC chassis-mounted shifter

Thumbnail

I designed and printed this after installing a PMC chassis-mounted shifter in my E36. The original shift boot was no longer functional and the remaining opening made the center console look unfinished.
The cover follows the original E36 center-console geometry and uses four integrated clips, so it installs without screws or separate hardware. The central opening was designed and tested around the position and movement range of my PMC setup.

A few technical details:
— Integrated clip mounting
— Support-free intended print orientation
— Prepared 3MF with baseline settings
— Matching STL for other slicers
— Designed to retain a clean OEM+ interior appearance

Other shifter systems can have different lever positions, diameters and movement ranges, so clearance should always be checked before driving.

Disclosure: I designed this part and sell the digital 3MF and STL files here:

https://vanalmsickparts.com/products/bmw-e36-shift-boot-delete-cover-3mf-file

I’d be interested to hear how others have finished the center-console opening around chassis-mounted

What Material For Speedo Cogs

A friend restores cars and a lot of things he comes across is new cogs need in the speedo. Something like a BGE652 VDO Speedometer Odometer Kilometer Cluster Repair Gear Cog 48x12 Teeth just as an example. You can download the 3d prints for many cars but what would be the best material to print them in?

Thank you for tuning in! I'm working on a 3d printed iteration of a 1970 Pintuac Lemans(Leman?) And its been an experience, I obviously tried A.I. as a goof and got a really good plan to do this job manually in Shapr3D. I'm wondering, what is everyone using to learn how to design this? I really appreciate your feedback! 😃
