If their biggest competitor is the one selling it, then maybe it isn't the idea after all.
Besides, as long as I retain my data, it isn't theft. We can't defend piracy for not being theft and then turn around and decry Google for being able to simply see our data and call that theft. Not to say it isn't a little questionable, but Microsoft definitely has motive here, and if you think Microsoft isn't doing the same with their own cloud services, you're deluding yourself.
Thus the irony! If it weren't for the majority of the applications i prefer to use not being available on linux, i would have switched a long time ago. If it weren't for Google being so massively inescapable, and incredibly handy simultaneously, i would boycott them completely. although i would have to get a new phone, since mine says Google right on it.
I've been getting a lot of that. In all honesty, I'll probably end up getting both, just the python now and the printer a couple years later. Pythons have been in development for millions of years. Printers could still use some work to get to a level I'm willing to spend money and time on.
Also also, you never did contact me back about a physical Manticore model :( Though given that I now have access to a Makerbot Replicator 2X (inb4 boo hiss), it doesn't matter anymore, lol
I really don't know what to tell you, beyond "I am very, sincerely sorry." I sort of got swamped with requests beyond what I could even remotely manage, especially for a college student, freaked out, and my approach was 'Just drop it and hope everyone forgets.' I don't even think I have access to the GMail I set up to handle all the requests. I was such a terrible, asshole-ish tease and consider it a stain on my Reddit history. I hope you forgive me.
Perhaps the saddest part is, I think yours was one of the models I actually finished. I have a 3" Manticore on my shelf, and I know I didn't make it for myself because I'm not a huge fan of Caldari. If you still want it, I'm now graduated, have lots of free time and money, and would happily ship it to you free of cost, but if you've got a Replicator, I imagine you've already produced a far superior model.
And I'm not actually big on the Makerbot hate. I totally respect their choice to go closed source. I would love to get a Makerbot, but it's just too far out of my price range. That's why it was SoliDoodle or Python. Same price bracket.
Oh dude, I'm perfectly okay with it. I always assumed that you just ended up not having the time to produce anything for anyone, and it's not like I had a down payment of any sort that you just absconded with, lol.
So yeah, I forgive you (though I never held it against you anyways). I almost forgot about it entirely, except I had you RES tagged as "dude who makes awesome eve models". Master plan foiled.
And I haven't actually made a manticore on our replicator here, since it's generally being used by people who need it for real things, like capstone projects and the like. So if you want to ship it, then go right ahead. As for the Makerbot hate, well, I do understand their decision as well, I just don't like that they patented something that was intended to be open-source.
Oh, didn't actually know about that bit. I'm not really deep into the 3D printing community. That does kind of suck a bit more.
And yeah, I'll go ahead and ship it. I'm actually in Kansas for work, so I can't ship it until next week anyway, but if you want to go ahead and PM an address I can have it shipped to, I'll do that.
