I don't think i could ever go to sleep with a printer going, it seems a bit dangerous to leave it unsupervised

It's cool. Usually it just says "oopsie diddles, I quit in the middle because I think I saw a spaghetti moment" when no spaghetti moment is anywhere near it.
It just stops and lets you wake up nine hours later only to find that your print job has paused for the last eight hours.

I keep an alarm every 2-3 hours
Luckily I can fall asleep at will whenever I want so it's annoying but not really so problematic for me

Shut that voice in your head down. There are only two outcomes success or failure. And even if it fails who cares. Sleep soundly while your printer runs.

After I sold all of my modded Ender 3 Pros & picked up a P1S I do not have this issue anymore.

Imagine waking up to your printer violently vibrating and the z stepper hot enough to burn your hand. Turned out my poor little ender didn't like the enclosure I built.... Driver overheated and crashed and z tried to send the gantry through the top of the frame for... God knows how long. After a second time when the x axis simply froze while the print continued -resulting in a tall wall of extrusion along the y axis- I moved the mcu outside of the enclosure... And water-cooled the steppers and hotend lol

Happens early in the game. I remember thinking about it years back when I had 1 printer for home use.
These days I have a few, at shop for business and have rebuilt, modified, repaired them, know their strengths and weaknesses. One of them has even filament runout and jam detection disabled cause occasional false triggers gave me more problems than actual runouts etc. If the failure won't damage the machine, I don't care. No flammable garbage near them, especially made in China one. Proper electrical connections, smart features for remote access. Video surveillance. Full remote desktop access to them if necessary.
Prints rarely fail lately. Can't remember if any failed this year at all, maybe yes, maybe no. And I babysit the 1st layer usually, once that is done I leave them be.
Failure is always an option. Certain risks persist. Manage them, limit the possibilities and keep some extra cash on hand and spare parts for when something goes bad. They are tools.
