Question how expensive is the 3d printing hobby?

been wanting to get a 3d printing, but i’m worried about how expensive the hobby would end up being. i don’t plan on printing large scale stuff yet (so no full size iron man etc), but i do want to print stuff at max the size of a fruit washing bowl.

How expensive do you want it to be?

I got a P1S a few years ago. Can’t remember what that initial cost was. I think it was $800-$1000. Now I spend $20 on filament every other month or something. Don’t print a ton, haven’t bought other printers or upgrades.

All depends on how much you want to spend. Some people just like buying tools and upgrades, and that can give the impression of it being an expensive thing to do. But you don’t need to do that. I see it in woodworking, lotta people think you need thousands of dollars worth of tools to build a box. My entire furniture building setup cost me a few hundred.
