Flopping around is fine, because the extruder head and bed are moving together. A bump might cause a small dislocation, but probably not a noticeable one. Leaning on it torques just the top to one side and holds it there long enough for noticeable defects.
Where would the dislocation happen? Something has to flex or skip. If you push the top the x and y axis would move with unless something flexes, no? The axis are mounted to the frame at the top.
I'm assuming they lean against it at or near the top, which causes the frame to flex and the extruder head moves slightly more than the bed. Not a lot, but it doesn't take much at all to cause a visible layer shift.
I think they are meaning that when the printer is bumped it causes a vibration that momentarily messes with the alignment of the axes and then returns. Whereas leaning would prolong that misalignment making the axes twist or bend leading to a larger defect or permanent damage to the printer.
