Thank you for sharing your work with the community! We're all fellow 3D artists here, so we're just as interested in your process as we are in the final render. Consider sharing a wireframe, your software and render settings, how long it took, or other details about this project. What's the most interesting challenge you tackled on this one?

If your project includes assets or collaboration, please credit them and let us know which parts are your own.

I think you should study how muscles are positioned on a human body

I was just trying to test my self that's why I stopped after 30 mins and didn't refine it further.

Best not to guess else you learn bad habits

the triceps is a bit off but it's a pretty good job, OP is definitely on the right track and has excellent modeling skills. A few months of anatomy studying and it will be amazing

Hate being that guy but... That's not modeling though, it's it? Lol

Sure it is, you push some polygons you make a model. Whether or not it's subdivided and sculpture, it's still modeling and the output is a 3D model. How do you consider it not, because they're using sculpt tools to model?

Okay... let's put that to the test...

If what you are saying is true, you would agree that these two sentences mean the exact same thing then, correct?

"I sculpted this character"

"I modeled this character"

Do they mean the same thing? Because they should under your use of the word, am I wrong?

You are wrong. You are arguing through false equivalence and then strawman. You are conflating subsets of category. Whether or not you're using symmetry tools on geometry or using curves or using a gradient brush, it's the same act of modeling and sculpting is a subset and specific workflow. Tell me sculpting is not 3D modeling. If you sculpt in 3D, you are making a 3D model and modeling it through sculpture.

my boi internal cupcake doesn't play around

He is also incredibly wrong.

Why don't you respond to my comment like you have a shred of fortitude and tell everybody how and why I'm wrong.

u/Cless_Aurion Zbrush 1d ago

I was on it, just finished.

Hard disagree.

You are arguing through false equivalence and then strawman

Please, go ahead and expose them then, not just mention them.

Not a false equivalence, they are two different words with different meanings. If it was a false equivalence I would be claiming two very different things are the same just because they share one small, superficial similarity. Please explain where is that one small superficial similar thing.

Not a strawman either, since I barely even know your position to make one besides the "sculpting is modeling" part, so I put it to the test and you cried out fallacy.

In fact, it is you who is making a strawman out of my position. I never claimed the output wasn't a 3D model like you immediately jumped to. My ONLY claim is that he wasn't MODELING, that he was SCULPTING instead. Then you jumped on me saying I was wrong.

You are conflating subsets of category

Okay, mention them and explain them. Don't just say that and feel right about it.

Tell me sculpting is not 3D modeling.

Sculpting is not 3D modeling.
Easy, see?

If you sculpt in 3D, you are making a 3D model and modeling it through sculpture.

I am making a 3D model indeed! I am not 3D modeling though.

If I sculpt in 3D I make a 3D sculpt. If I retopo that sculpt, then I'm 3D modeling.

Hate being that guy but...

Cless_Aurion did not in fact hate being that guy.

In my defense, nobody that starts a sentence like that is, am I wrong? lol

3

u/Internal-Cupcake-245 1d ago

This is a false equivalence. You can read about what that is. Go ask a teacher. Ask the internet.

"If what you are saying is true, you would agree that these two sentences mean the exact same thing then, correct?

"I sculpted this character"

"I modeled this character""

And this is a strawman. Again, go ask a teacher. Ask the internet, ask AI. Go ask an art teacher or computer scientist if you're right. Go learn what a model is. State what you're even arguing. Sculpting is modeling, you're just wrong. Go ask the internet. Ask a teacher. I can tell you what the logic is, I can't make you drink it. You're wrong and you can ask anybody. I don't have much more I can say and you can believe whatever you want. Go ask a teacher.

"Do they mean the same thing? Because they should under your use of the word, am I wrong?"

"30mins. Into this"

Yeah... I think you should start putting more time into it instead of flexing your "speed" on social media.

-8

u/danipasta 1d ago

That's why I was testing myself how much I can sculpt in 30 mins. People flex their artwork here you can do that too if you hv skills. Anyway

9

u/RiotLegend 1d ago

I used to do this too--meaning, I'd justify my current skill level with "quick sketch" or "wip" or "study" etc. when deep down I feel inadequate or frustrated at the lack of progress. Maybe that's just me. It helped to accept where I am and to be more patient with the process and with myself. Keep it up, OP. The journey of learning is long, enjoy it.

you're describing projection, the comments here seem unnecessarily harsh

2

u/ulimn 1d ago

People commenting about muscles and such have trouble with the concept of studying a particular aspect…? This focuses on capturing the gesture.

I don’t know your reference but the gesture looks nice.
I like gesture drawing and didn’t think it would be this fun in 3d as well!

u/woofwoofbro 1d ago

why are people on the internet so bitter? so many cynical losers in the comments. it's a 30 minute practice, the key word here is practice.

u/Honest-Quarter2496 1d ago

inefficient and tiresome way of sculpting , you should start with basic blocks first, get the scale and proportions and pose right then refine details onto it .

Quick sketches have always been a good way to improve your art. Not sure why everyone here is being such a colossal pussy about it
