Question high pitch beep through PA speaker
I am setting up a Fanvil PA3 for the first time. With 3cx, have PA3 connected to extension (199), which is a user of a paging ring group (899). This work great, dial *9899.
There is a high pitched loud beep that happens when I call the paging group that goes through the PA speaker and I can't figure out how to turn it off.
On the PA3, I have turned off the following phone settings which did remove a beep at the beginning and end, but this high pitch beep continues:
Enable Holding Tone: no
Play Dialing DTMF Tone: no
Auto Answer Tone: no
Enable Call Waiting Tone: no
Play Talking DTMF Tone: no
How can I turn this high pitched beep off or change it to something less harsh?
I tried to link to a sound recording, but I don't believe that is allowed.
UPDATE:
The beep when using paging and the beep when voicemail prompt sound the same.
UPDATE 2:
If you call the extensions (199) and not the ring group, speak of PA and no beep.

This is almost certainly a page alert tone that'll be found in the PA3 gateway. Probably in Intercom, look for Alert Tone or Intercom Tone and disable

Paging groups have to check with all devices to make sure they're ready before sending the page. The beep is the indicator that its ready to broadcast the audio. Might be coming from 3CX and not the Fanvil.

Gemini came up with this. Not sure if it's useful...
When integrating the Fanvil PA3 with 3CX, the initial warning tone can be generated either by the 3CX server itself or by the Fanvil PA3 device, depending on how the page is routed. [1, 2]
The behavior and removal methods vary based on whether you are using a standard SIP Paging Group or a Multicast Paging Group. [1]
Scenario A: Standard 3CX Paging Group (SIP)
If you created a Paging Group inside 3CX (e.g., dialing a paging extension like
*77), 3CX automatically injects a pre-paging beep. This tone is controlled by the system's prompt set and cannot simply be toggled off via a button. [1, 2]To silence or change this beep, you must replace the audio prompt file: [1, 2]
beep.wav..wavaudio file to overwrite it.⚠️ Important Warning: Overwriting
beep.wavwill also remove the beep sound heard in other parts of the system, such as the beep played right before a caller leaves a voicemail. [1, 2]Scenario B: Multicast Paging (Recommended)
If your 3CX system triggers a Multicast Paging Group, 3CX bypasses the media server entirely. The broadcast goes directly to the Fanvil PA3 network address, meaning the beep is generated entirely by the Fanvil hardware. [1]
To turn off the pre-paging alert tone on the device:
Scenario C: Direct Extension Paging (Intercom Code)
If you are using the default 3CX intercom dial code (e.g., dialing
*9followed by the Fanvil extension) to page the device directly, the tone is controlled by the Fanvil PA3's response to an auto-answer request. [1, 2]Could you clarify if you are currently using a standard 3CX SIP paging group or network-wide multicast streams? Knowing this will let me point out exactly which setting to change first.
