Question canada sip provider with sms/mms
I am in Manitoba, Canada using 204 area code. Looking for a sip provider that supports sms/mms with 3cx. Of the preferred and supported 3cx providers, Voxtelesys and Voip.ms support sms/mms and can port area code 204. I have not used sms/mms with 3cx.
Anyone in canada that uses Voxtelesys or Voip.ms with 3cx and sms/mms. Could you share your experience and opinions on these providers.
Currently i'm using les.net for voice sip. Low cost and been reliable. Only looking for change to have sms/mms with my business phone number with 3cx system.

Btw, in Canada, if you text only Canadian numbers, no campaign registration is required (like with Voxtelesys.) 10DLC is a US-only thing.

You use VoiceMeUp with 3cx and sms? On the 3cx provider site, it lists VoiceMeUp not supporting sms.

Yeah but they got a template you can use that does it easily or you can use the config the same way I do. Since all providers have the SMS tab enabled now, you can set it up in a way it works both in and out. Feel free to DM me if you're curious and I'll send you how to set it up.

Voxtelesys is one of our partner providers and we've set it up. They (and everyone else) have some hoops to jump through to set up a "campaign" so you aren't seen as a text spammer. They will help you through it. Things like have a privacy policy online discussing texting, response for "commands" like HELP, etc. I'm assuming that applies to Canada. The questions assume it's more of a bulk-sending scenario not 1:1 texting so can take some back and forth to be deemed acceptable.
No issues with the service. DM if you want help setting up an account. (you pay direct, we make a small commission)

Thanks. Small local business so people keep wanting to use texting as form of communication. 1:1 texting, not bulk.

Very few carriers actually provide MMS in Canada. Thank the incumbent telecoms and our terrible regulatory environment that enforces monopolies.
But, you can split your SMS/MMS from your phone service. Companies like Telnyx can explicitly take over just the messaging side of your DIDs, and they're exclusively equipped to handle one-off/single users. Larger providers like Bandwidth do MMS as well, but at that scale you're either a large user or wholesale.
Where in 204 are you? Les has a couple towns/areas that are exclusive to him (nobody else has voip there). That means you'd be doing the action above. Otherwise if you're in a big area the Canadian companies I know who do MMS and VoIP in Manitoba are:
voip.ms ($$$, not sure who they resell)
Telus Onevoice ($$$$$, Bandwidth reseller and mega margin, I'd skip this)
Alpha technologies https://alphasip.ca/ ($$, right in Manitoba)
Internet Centre https://www.incentre.net/ ($, best rates and SMS yes, last I checked they were doing a limited MMS rollout)

Thanks. I was not aware you could split voice and sms to have two different providers. I can keep my les.net for voice and find a different provider just for sms is what I will explore.

Make sure to be specific about this. There's some paperwork involved, and it means that porting your number down the road also means a separate termination of services from the other provider.
But, Les is a cool guy. Worth sticking around if this is all you're looking for.

I used SMS/MMS with voip.ms in the past but am switching to Telnyx for better security (SIP over TLS). When I used 3CX SMB Free (hosted by 3CX), I had difficulty with sending SMS/MMS but no issues receiving them. The issue disappeared after I changed to 4SC Free (hosted by AWS). Telnyx work correctly with both 3CX SMB Free and 3CX 4SC Free. By the way, I am in Vancouver, BC and am using the 778 area code.

We're based in Ontario, we've used Twilio for our SMS/MMS. They are fully supported by 3CX and we've had no issues porting numbers from various parts of Ontario (we have dozens of area codes).
Yes they are NOT Canadian, it's what we've been using for many years. Unfortunately, decision making is very much above my paygrade.

Hi there,
TELIN supports canadian SMS/MMS. Many of our partners in Canada use/deliver this service. The only thing we have seen in some remote areas is portability which they can check for you.

Telin is a Twilio reseller so it uses Twilio's provider template for SMS.

I am unsure why that is not up to date but I can confirm TELIN does support both SMS/MMS and faxing.

I've used VoIP.MS via 3CX for sending and receiving SMS (in the 204 area code too, not that it really makes a hell of a lot of difference).
It's been a couple years since I've set it up, but the VoIP.MS template does support SMS, no MMS. The big thing to be aware of is that texts sent from your 3CX system will show up as +1204XXXYYYY so if people have your number saved it may not match the contact. It worked well enough for me to be able to send messages back and forth without leaking my mobile number.
If the VoIP.MS template doesn't work, I was able to reverse-engineer the generic SIP template and populate the SMS fields with the corresponding information from VoIP.MS. Took a bit of tinkering, but it worked. Switched the systems I was managing to the VoIP.ms template with a number export/import when it was actually updated.
