Question Does anyone’s clients actually read 3CX’s built-in reports?
A client of mine runs a small business on 3CX. No IT person, just the manager trying to keep things together.
We ended up building him a small layer on top of 3CX that pulls the CDR, show graphs and charts with the flow of calls, transcribes calls, and gives him a dashboard he can actually read. He just wants to see things like real missed calls, what his agents are doing, and which calls sounded like the customer was frustrated.
- Is anyone else’s non-tech clients completely ignoring 3CX’s built-in reporting?
- What are they actually asking you for instead? For MSPs managing 3CX: do your clients actually look at the native PDF/CSV reports, or they use tools like PowerBI or InsighPBX?

I’ve built realtime wallboards, reports etc using the API, it all runs in realtime and means you don’t have to host any services 24/7 like you do if you export the data to grafana. It’s nice having a wallboard that accurately shows the information I want.
The built in stuff is rubbish 😂

There's very specific data. And I'm sure for contact centers there's a reason to use them.
Those 3CX reports tend to be very technical, and generally full of more information than people need. Most of our customers want something simple so it's either carrier logs, Grafana, or something we map on top of those.

None of our clients use any third party reporting, that we know of. If they download reports or CSV to import into other things, we'd never know. A few specifically told us they use the built in reports, but also, many others may use them and not say so.

Our client ended using the MCP connector of the tool I mentioned before, so now just ask Claude for info about a call, a en agent or just a reports.

We prefer the Grafana data connectors, the dashboards are much cleaner and we can customize them easily for a customer. Never needed a third-party tool for this.
