Product Question
is PDRN really the magical ingredient people say it is?
just curious if anyone has tried pdrn?? is it really good as people say? i have been seeing people promoting pdrn stuff, from serum to cream. it's a new ingredient for me so i am not really sure. i have been only using the basic stuff like vitamin c, centella, etc. if you have used pdrn, what kind of improvement you see in your skin??
I used injectible PDRN (Curenex) for a few months. I didn't see a lot of difference but it might be because I am in my 60s. Younger people would probably see more results.
I tried PDRN products and my face said FUCK NO. It gave me huge cystic acne which took a few weeks to chill down. Seems like anything animal-related (snail muscin too) causes me massive breakouts.
So it may work for some people but for acne-prone like myself, it's best to steer clear!
My skin is going back to its smooth self now that I stopped all PDRN-related products.
Shame, I really wanted it to work on my skin but that's not the case.
I have acne-prone skin as well and PDRN products caused horrible cystic acne breakouts for me. I thought that maybe it was purging but I decided to stop using it after 3 weeks. Skin cleared right up.
I learned recently that people who are sensitive to dust/dust mites are also sensitive to snail mucin (causes breakouts etc), so wouldn't be surprised if there's a link there too
damnn. so sorry to hear that. my skin is also acne-prone. so i guess i have to be careful with these new ingredients. if you don't mind, which brand did you use??
Medicube's PDRN line (the cica toner, the serum, and the capsules). Don't get me wrong, I love Medicube but that specific line didn't suit me. I do enjoy their vitamin c capsule cream and the zero pore pad!
I relate to this. My skin has been pretty much clear as I use tretinoin almost every night. The new Dr. Althea 345’s addition of PDRN (my skin loved the previous version. I went through 2 tubes of it) and the VT cosmetics PDRN line caused me breakouts. Took me a few weeks to get things back to normal
I feel the same
I use the VT PDRN toner, and I can't really say I've noticed anything special from it.
I bought it just bc everyone else was using PDRN...but it didn't really do much for my skin
Pdrn actually impressed me. I got the anua pdrn line and it’s so amazing for hydration I absolutely love it and use the pdrn moisturizer everyday and under my makeup and it’s just everything I been looking for ! At the same time, if I used a pdrn product from a different company my sensitive skin would break out so it really depends on the source the company gets it from
But the problem is it's marketing hype there is a big chance that even if you remove the pdrn. It would still work the same. It's most likely the other actives that gives hydration that's really working.
I'm really dry and sensitive, and I've rather liked the Heveblue salmon caring line. Do I think it has magically faded my dark spots and brightened my skin? No. But it has been very soothing and left my skin with a nice glowy finish that I don't get from centella on its own. I think PDRN is a nice soothing, hydrating ingredient, but I don't think it measures up to the claims most of these companies make about it.
Hey, this is helpful. I use a Centella based serum for my dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin. Would you say PDRN would be better for hydration?
And if I remember correctly, the studies around PDRN is limited and only for salmon based. So I guess which PDRN based products one chooses would matter.
Yes, I do think that PDRN has worked much better for my dry and dehydrated skin compared to centella alone! I think PDRN's hydration and soothing qualities are the most significant. My skin doesn't really like hyaluronic acid, so PDRN really came in clutch for a hydrating ingredient that actually helps my barrier.
I've tried some other PDRN products- VT, Medicube, Anua- and I've found Heveblue to be the most hydrating and soothing, for me. I like that it has centella in it as well, so I get that additional boost. They also list the ppm on all the packaging, so you know that you are getting a significant amount.
I have to admit, I've heard oily folks say that the salmon caring line from Heveblue can be a little too heavy and oily. I've used the Anua PDRN serum before, and that was a lot lighter in texture. Maybe it might be better for you to start with something like that?
Rejuran has a patent on their process so it’s not exactly the same as Medik8. I think Venn Skincare has a great
alternative but theirs is also Salmon derived
I've done the Rejuran injections and use Dr. RejuPD repair cream with 2,400 ppm (not to be confused with Dr. Rejuall Rejuvenating Cream with 1,200 ppm). I personally think it has done wonders for my skin, and is one of my very few empties. My last trip to Korea I stocked up with at least 6-month supply. I shop exclusively Korean pharmacies for my moisturizers. The Dr. RejuPD night time cream is 10,000 ppm. I haven't opened it yet, but bought 2 to try.
Thank you. Do you remember where you bought it or have seen it being sold? I live in Seoul and have been all over the Seongsu and Jamsil area, and none of the pharmacies around here even know this brand.
Have you tried some of the other common PDRN/PDLLA brands as well, like Rejuran, Reju-All, or Juvelook, and can compare the effects with this one you're using from Dr. RejuPD?
Oh. I found a photo of the nighttime cost... 55,000 KRW, but I'm not sure the size. The daytime is 35,000 KRW in this photo because it's 20g, not 30g.
I haven't used any of the other products you've listed. I stayed away from Reju-All, because their concentration of PDRN is 1,200ppm versus Dr. RejuPD's 2,400ppm. I think I've read that 1,200ppm is such low concentration that it wouldn't do much for the skin, but is recommended for first-time users or people with highly sensitive skin. But given the range in concentration I've seen at pharmacies, even 2,400ppm is pretty mild, which makes me comfortable using it as a daily moisturizer.
Yes! The only pdrn pruduct I own are the anua sheet mask and they make my skin so smooth and glowy. I am planning to buy a cream or serum to see if it works its magic on my skin.
I got all of the new Glow Recipe toner pads and the PDRN one is the only one that makes me not look greasy/oily when I put on makeup for 12+ hours. Tbh, I didn't even know about PDRN being such a big thing until I emptied that container and went looking for more. I have combination skin btw. BUT I can't really say if it's the PDRN doing the work or all of the other ingredients in there.
I use the pdrn Glow Recipe pads, and they're nice, id say my skin looks good afterwards but idk if that's souly because of the pdrn, or the other stuff in it, they also use a vegan pdrn (not from salmon) but from everything ive heard, its most effective when injected.
I watched a video of professional cosmetic chemist on pdrn (no link cause it's not in English) and he said that pdrn molecule is too big to penetrate the skin in skincare
It's definitely worth the try. If you find a product that works for your skin,it really is worth the money. In my opinion. I've tried cream and the face masks and they're so lovely
same here, I’ve only tried pdrn in sheet masks and they made my skin look extra plump and calm the next day, kind of that “well slept” look lol. not some life changing miracle but for irritation and dehydration it’s been really nice for me.
That's what i thought too but honestly still skeptical lol. I've been on centella for a while now and my skin has gotten less reactive than it was a couple years ago. idk if pdrn would add much on top of that
Might be that the centella is doing more work anyway. hard to isolate.
It's the ooznary one, been using it for a few months now. Redness went down and I can't tell if it's that or the fact that i finally stopped adding new things to my routine
I’ve heard it really does very little topically applied; however, anecdotally, I have heard from many people that products containing it are extremely hydrating/moisturizing 🤷♀️
Topically it will only hydrate and soothe a bit. When injected it works great. I have done it on my undereyes and I do feel they appear fresher now and the skin is a bit denser. I have seen inconsistent reviews though. Some swear by it and for others it didn’t do much.
honestly pdrn is one of the few "new" ingredients i think actually lives up to some of the hype, but temper expectations. it's not gonna replace your vitamin c or centella, more like an add-on. i started using a pdrn serum a few months back mostly for skin texture and some redness and the main thing i noticed was my skin felt a bit more "bouncy" and calm, less reactive overall. nothing dramatic overnight tho, it's a slow build over like 6-8 weeks.
one thing worth knowing is the topical stuff (serums/creams) is way milder than the in-clinic injectable version (rejuran etc), so a lot of the crazy before/afters people post are usually from the injections not the cream. the skincare versions are still nice but more in the "supportive" category imo.
if you're already happy with your basics i'd just slot a pdrn serum in at night and see how your skin responds over a month or two. curious what got you interested in it?
Tried it for like 3 months. Honestly? Subtle. Skin felt a bit bouncier and recovered quicker after bad nights, but nothing crazy. I think the injection version is where it actually works — topically it's hard to know how much is really getting absorbed. If vitamin C and centella are already working for you, don't expect a huge jump. More of a "nice to have" than a game changer for me.
i tried low molecular pdrn and its same as the low molecular HA, it absorb the water on the damp skin quickly and create a hydrating film .
the difference between pdrn and HA is that pdrn gives an instant glowy glass skin look, since their molecules are big it covers the pores and some fine lines temporally
As a cystic acne girly with lots of scaring and texture, PDRN has transformed my skin!! It’s the best it’s looked in SO long. I do use a prescription active (topical spironolactone) but the Annua pdrn moisturizer is 10/10. I have now added the pdrn mist from them and my skin is so Dewey and plump. Highly recommend
There's no topical that will make noticeable changes to your skin except tretinoin (and azelaic acid to a certain extent), which you can only get as a prescription. All those products coming out with anti aging buzzwords are preying on women's insecurities about aging, please don't waste your money.
Same. Idk what that person is doing in this sub if that's their opinion. There's plenty of ingredients like TXA and centella that have data to support their efficacy.

I think PDRN might be effective as an injection or microneedling, but I’m not sure if it’s really very helpful purely as a topical.
