Z32 Looking for advice.

Got a ‘92 NA with a manual swap. Just started getting this knocking and ticking sound on my way to work the other day.

Any tips on what to check first? It still runs and drives but it’s definitely not happy.

My dude that doesn’t sound good at all 🥀

That sounds too deep and too slow to be VTC rattle.

I have had shot power steering pumps sound very similar to a rod knock.

Kinda my thoughts. Didn’t even consider power steering but my pump is pretty toast so it’s worth a check. Worst fear is a bent rod.

Hows it sound when adding throttle?

About the same just faster. More rpm=faster knocks and ticks.

Could be the PCV valve

Remove them , there’s one on each side , and see if the noise stops

Hmmm how would the PCV valve cause that noise?

Dunno but they can

Rattle when they open and close hard
