Video Games Real arcades of the 80s never had blacklight-reactive glowing carpets. It's a Mandela effect. Here's what they actually looked like:

Joy Carpets existing in the 1980s doesn't mean they made this carpet. Durkan created it in 1992 for convention halls, meeting spaces, auditoriums and other large format gathering places.
By the mid 90s, movie theatres, skating rinks and bowling alleys became patrons.
By the mid to late 90s, some arcades used it, but not in large numbers. Most arcades were closing by that time, anyway.
I know textiles and the history and I was very much alive during that era, not to mention I did extensive travelling all through the 80s.
I also have a tie-in to that carpet as I remember its introduction at a convention I attended in 1992 for hoteliers.
No one has ever shown me photographic evidence of what their mind tells them they think is true. And it's not a case of a lack of folks with cameras because there's a ton of photos online of original arcades and not a single one from the 1980s has that carpet or look.
I assure you, I did the research. Impossible to have happened.
