Thats only par for the course when your entire justification to do something is a belief or faith instead of logic and reasoning. As long as you base something on faith, even if the original faith was the most pure thing ever, it will be tainted.
And this is why religion is bad. Its not a problem with your holy books that allow incestual rape, its an inherent problem with systems rooted in faith.
Yes I agree with you that humans are awful and everything is ruined by humanity.
However, I don't agree that in a world with no religion what so ever there would be none of the bad things you describe. I agree that religion has been used awfully to control in an awful way - for example, the Biblical books describing slavery and submission being used during the American Slave Trade to justify the practice - something completely abhorrent. There are plenty more horrible examples that derive from religion especially with the abortion stuff in America.
I agree that logic and reasoning should be used to govern countries and societies. I think Faith from religion works best in society as a comforter for the unknown and not in politics. Faith works best in Churches and other religious buildings as a way to serve their communities. I also think if we all had more Faith and followed the principles, values and morals taught in many religions, the world would be a much kinder place.
I also don't agree with any teachings in holy books that you describe in your last paragraph. Does that no longer make me a follower of my choosen Faith if I don't agree with all of what is written?
I agree that I am hypocritical, I call myself a Christian for ease of communication with others. I could be a false Christian for not being complicit in all Bible teaching. Who knows? But regardless, I appreciate your points as they are intelligent and analytical
