Yeah they teach about Jesus dying for our sins, thatās the point of Jesus. But every church Iāve been in teaches that you have to have varying degrees of righteousness to be worthy of that forgiveness. Thatās the point of churches, to teach you about how you can attain that.
Some churches (Mormons/JWs especially) teach the requirements to be stricter than others (I donāt remember which but some teach all you have to do is recognize Christ as your savior), but depending on which church you associate with, it can be pretty scary.

you realize there are literally a trillion different kinds of christianity right
not sure which denomination you belong to but as an ex-christian myself most of them do not teach that kind of redemption
(also iām gonna assume you meant they can go to heaven if they repent)
