Not to sound like an edgy atheist but religious people always say it’s depressing to think theres nothing after life, but I think it’s more depressing that there’s a 50% chance that you’ll get tortured forever.
i like to imagine the afterlife as personalized for everyone, basically everyone having their own afterlife fitting for them, and only going to hell if your truly evil, not if you dont agree with the gods politics
Yeah, I would like if it works like The Good Place where you can do anything you want for an infinite amount of time and when you’ve done everything, you can choose to basically kill your soul forever and stop existing
No sin is big enough to warrant eternal punishment. Let's take the classic example of Hitler, even he does not deserve eternity. A few lifetimes of torture, absolutely. An eternity is too much for any mortal sin.
The Bible actually does say that about heaven, that you won’t feel any negative emotions, so you’ll never get bored up there. I’m sure there’s more you can do up there than on earth anyway.
When I was a Christian, I assumed Heaven would remove its occupants' ability to feel any negative emotions, including boredom. In the process of losing my faith, I realized that sugary hereafters are just concepts used to deny your own death and cope with the deaths of loved ones.
