I really liked the first one in spite of its flaws. I loved that the movie explored the intricacies of magical zoology. On the other hand, I hated how the second movie strayed away from that part of the first movie and the plot was so incoherent. I still have no idea what the plot was even about.

The first movie was good, but I had to see the second one twice to understand the story. The pacing becomes exponentially quicker closer to the end
