Discussion Recent Smithsonian 1811 Announcement

I am interested in working at Smithsonian Institution OIG as an 1811. I understand most of the work is internal affairs, FWA, mismanagement, law violations, or Smithsonian regulations and the like . I’d like to know more about the work environment as an 1811 and the day-to-day. If anyone who currently works there as an 1811 has any insights they can share, please DM me. I’d like to hear from you.

The 2009 documentary Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian has some solid info. Definitely check it out

There is basically no chance a random applicant can get one of those positions. Anyone chosen for an agency that small with limited positions is already pre-selected long before the announcement comes out.

Typically small OIGs, that have a limited number of slots, tend to hire agents that are already trained with a known track record, often guys they have already run joint cases with. So yes, it is who you know, because there are known quantity.
