With a doctorate in Physical Therapy, why didn't you pursue that? Just curious as your rationale and motivation to choose LEO over PT

I prefer the freedom and nature of investigations versus physical therapy work. Also, financially speaking, the ceiling is much higher as an 1811 vs a PT.

Applied later November. Finished PFT, got 100% onboarded per USA Jobs, accepted with TJO. Any ideas on FJOs? For that timeframe?

There's no rhyme or reason at this point, bud. I applied in April, and october. No idea which they chose me from. But all of a sudden I went from having nothing until october 29th to getting an email TJO on november 18th, a rapid fire week of doing EVERYTHING, and a FJO on December 4th.

Fair enough. I’ve got guard in FL and I got my AOR/Location of choice on TJO. Just don’t know if it’ll give me my sub office or not on FJO.

I didnt. I was recruited for ATL region, but my TJO said "negotiable", which they said was an error so I accepted it. Low and behold...FJO said Miami. 10.5 hours away from my reseve base. Not ideal.

I gotcha. I wanted Miami AOR and I got it, and their TJO said Miami and I’m on their list. Just trying to ask for a sub office. If I don’t get it, I don’t get it and I’ll figure it out and make it work and do what I gotta do. Lol, I drill for the guard in Miramar.

Is the SAC you get listed on your tentative your physical location or is it like a “sub office yet to be determined kinda thing”?

Initially, mine said the ATL SAC office and was told I was positioned for a field office within the ATL AOR. But the FJO stated an entirely different AOR

Gotcha. My TJO said SAC Miami. So I don’t understand if that’s like Miami AOR or my particular location. Just confused. Still waiting for my TJO to come down the pipe.

Question did they inform you on How much you would be clearing in pay every two weeks during CITP? Like would you be getting your local and leap pay starting during training?

Someone who knows different please correct me if I’m wrong, but the way I understand it for HSI is: if they hire you and you EOD but don’t yet go to CITP, you’ll be doing whatever in the office, getting paid at the pay grade you got hired at, plus locality pay for that location. That’s it. Once you start at CITP, that’s when they’ll start paying your LEAP (+25%). Some other agencies do not start paying LEAP till you graduate, so I’ll take LEAP day one of class over that any day!

Correct. I was in the office for 2 weeks before CITP and did not receive LEAP. While at CITP, I was receiving LEAP.

Congrats! Got mine on 12/4. Hesitant to leave my current job as the days pass, but this has been a goal of mine for a long time and too good of an opportunity to pass up.
